**Director, Asia Pacific Center for Aviation Safety**

**Location: Singapore**

**Position Information**

The Director for Asia Pacific Center for Aviation Safety (AP-CAS) will lead the Flight
Safety Foundation’s new center focused on advancing and promoting aviation safety in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. The Director will be a seasoned aviation professional with significant experience in operational and safety aspects in aviation, with in-depth knowledge of APAC aviation. He or she will be responsible for developing and implementing a work program for the AP-CAS, focused on safety management systems, safety information sharing, safety leadership and culture, identifying and addressing emerging safey risks, and envisioning new initiatives to advance aviation safety and support the anticipated growth in the APAC region. The Director will be responsible for hiring and managing expertise to carry out the work program. He or she will be responsible for stakeholder engagement and developing partnerships within the region, including international organizations, universities, aircraft & engine manufacturers, operators and suppliers, and others. Considerable travel within the APAC region will be required.

**Major Duties and Responsibilities**
- Engage with the APAC stakeholder community (e.g. regulators, operators, ANPS, OEMs, institutes of higher learning, research institutions, associations) to develop collaborative relationships and partnerships to advance the Center mission.
- Develop and implement AP-CAS work program in line with the center mission and goals, to understand in-depth the safety challenges and solutions in the region and advance regional aviation safety performance.
- Promote AP-CAS vision and goals related to advancing safety management systems, safety information sharing and safety leadership and culture in the region.
- Leverage existing Foundation advisory committees and work groups and the AP-CAS Governing Board to advance the goals of AP-CAS; establish new committees and work groups as needed.
- Plan and execute AP-CAS events (in-person and virtual), bringing together experts from the stakeholder community to address emerging safety issues.
- Actively participate in regional and international forums and share the on-going work of the Center.
- Direct and manage AP-CAS staff.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Education**

A four-year university degree, preferably an advanced degree in aviation management, policy analysis, or engineering.

**Professional Experience — required**
- Considerable experience (preferably 8 to 10 years) in aviation relating to aviation safety, flight operations, or air traffic management.
- Experience in managing programmes and the stakeholders involved to achieve buy-in, positive outcomes with efficient use of resources.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience in the management and implementation of aviation safety projects at international or national levels with leadership ability to plan and manage to obtain tangible results.
- Experience in facilitating small working groups and large events and forums.
- Experience with managing a diverse team of experts and advisors.
- Experience in practical influence of peers and colleagues in the industry to accomplish common objectives
- Experience in the design and establishment of frameworks and systems to integrate, harmonize and implement safety initiatives and requirements at international levels.
- Knowledge and experience in safety management systems, risk analysis,risk mitigation development, and safety information sharing
- Familiarity in with key governmental and non‐governmental (industry) entities at different levels, particularly in the APAC region.
- Experience working at a management level in areas related to aviation safety.

**Language Skills**

Required: Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English; excellent presentation and oral communications abilities. Fluency in an international language is a plus.

Pay: $15,000.00 - $20,000.00 per month
