Aps Traineeship

APS Asset Management was founded in 1995 by Wong Kok Hoi, who is the Chief Investment Officer and a seasoned investor with 40 years of investment experience in Asia. Headquartered in Singapore with three research offices in China, we are one of the few home-grown, independent China investment boutiques with a track record spanning multiple decades. The APS Traineeship is a 12-month programme designed to acclimate and train the best young, bi-cultural talents (e.g. West and East) who wish to pursue an analytical career in the investment industry. As such, the programme provides trainees a solid foundation to develop essential professional, technical and personality skills that will allow them to succeed in building their investment career.

As a Trainee, you can (among other things) expect to:

- Develop technical skills e.g. learn basics of practical investing; understand value chain of investing; understand concepts of fundamental investing; analyse business models; differentiate between theory and reality in analysing financial statements; learn quantitative analysis using Excel/Bloomberg/other tools; utilize investigative and forensic accounting techniques in analysing companies
- Acquire personality attributes e.g. distil complex data into concise information; develop behavioural attributes of a good analyst (e.g. independent and critical thinking, meticulous); engage with buy/sell-side analysts, brokers, company representatives; develop interpersonal and intercultural skills working in teams; learn how to debate, challenge opinions, present your ideas and engage with analysts, portfolio managers, brokers, asset owners, etc.
- Learn market knowledge e.g. understand the operations of an asset manager, insights of China equities and market, latest market and investor trends, types of investors and asset owners
- Work as an analyst to support the investment team e.g. generate investment ideas; conduct due diligence on companies and industries by researching, reading financial statements and market data; draft and write research reports for fund manager or client use; meet with and provide information (including summaries of research, investment ideas, key events from the preceding day as well as key drivers for the day ahead) to fund managers
- The trainee will be working alongside our investment team and treated as a regular employee. At the end of the Traineeship, the top performer(s) will be offered an employment to join the APS Investment team as an Analyst.
