**Job Description**:
Senior Sales Planner will act in strategic partnership with The New York Times International Advertising teams to provide thoughtful and compelling programs that deliver successful outcomes for NYT advertisers. Senior Sales Planner will be knowledgeable of digital, print and audio advertising platforms, tools and products, and will provide solutions to our advertiser and agency partners that meet their goals. She/he will engage with NYT customers to ensure excellent client servicing.
Senior Sales Planner will work on a variety of print and digital campaigns across multiple categories and serve as an expert in NYT offering. She/he will work seamlessly and partner with other teams, such as Sales, Yield, Insights, Strategy, Ad Operations, Product and Ad Solutions. As a senior team member, she/he will be expected to support fellow planners and foster a best-in-class relationship with partner teams and NYT clients. Senior Sales Planner will actively bring strategic ideas to the forefront to help individual pitches and influence the overall approach in their categories of expertise.
Reporting into Manager, Sales Planning in Hong Kong, Senior Sales Planner will be crucial in contributing to the Planning team strategy and executing initiatives from leadership in support of this. She/he will also support the growth and development of the entire Planning department by onboarding and mentoring individual Sales Planners. This role will play a crucial role in training and ‘upskilling’ Sales Planners through coaching, 1:1 training, and being an open resource for ad hoc questions. Senior Sales Planner will also be required to take on stretch projects in the team and cross-functionally.
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Strategize and develop print and digital plans from inception to completion, understanding the role of inventory in addition to the KPIs and metrics behind NYT product offerings
- Manage client requests throughout the RFP process while providing best-in-class service, inclusive of: plan changes, budget revisions, distribution asks, marketplace and industry information, specs, timeline development
- Utilize internal resources and tools to add relevant, informative data to brainstorming sessions, proposals and presentations
- Develop a deep, exemplary understanding of the NYT Product Catalog
- Expected to carry stretch projects or team initiatives at any given time, which can include: Subject Matter Expert work, taskforce participation, building training materials, or other key projects as identified by management
- Work with Sales Planners to help train and foster their growth in the following areas: OMS/Workflow, NYT Product Knowledge, Print, T&Cs
- Consistently foster a relationship with Sales leaders based around trust through accountability, product and strategic expertise, and open communication
- Assume a leadership role in On-Boarding of new Sales Planners
- Participate in larger team discussions as necessary and be ready and willing to support the entire portfolio
- Manage interdepartmental workflow to ensure that all elements are handled according to process and schedule
- Manage ad hoc projects that shape the future of the Advertising business and position NYT as a thought leader
- Display knowledge and understanding of the advertising landscape outside NYT and the industry as a whole (e.g. deep understanding of: Off-Platform, Viewability, Terms & Conditions, Reporting, Brand Safety, Data Privacy, etc.)
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- 2-5 years of related experience in Digital advertising (audio experience an added bonus)
- Digital Planning experience
- BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
- Great attention to detail and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of online proposal system such as Lineup/Adpoint
- Advanced knowledge of media math
- Motivated, proactive, resourceful self-starter and quick learner
- Collaborative, responsive and accountable
- Excellent communication skills both with external clients as well as internal stakeholders
- Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong ability to communicate end-to-end planning process and sharing that knowledge with the rest of the team
