The Graphics Designer is responsible for creating layouts and printing of custom signage, pipe markers and specialty products. He shall perform daily production activities of the graphic design team and shall collaborate with the production manager and sales team to gain a full understanding of the customer specifications, project requirements and timeline. He shall also manage the Designer Folder/Archives and stores layouts in a concise and organized manner.

**POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Create and edit layouts for custom signage as well as creating layouts for pipe markers, tags and other specialty products.
- Collaborate with the sales team to gain a full understanding of customer specifications and project requirements and ensure finished products meet quality and customer specification standards.
- Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, selects style and size of type, and arranges layout based upon available space, knowledge of layout principles, and esthetic design concepts.
- Prepares final layouts for printing and provides notes and instructions for workers who assemble and prepare.
- Responsible for storing and maintaining design files according to established retention criteria.
- Gains technical understanding of how each material/product is produced and manufactured and follow the established internal procedures.
- Keep the production clean and organized. Consistently follows all safety protocols.
- Performs other tasks assigned by the Graphic Supervisor and Production Manager.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS**:

- Diploma in Graphic Design or equivalent, and/or related field and/or related experience.
- Self-motivated, ability to work at a fast pace.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in graphic design/layout
- Proficient in software programs including MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign & Photoshop)
- Experience with Autocad CAD/CAM software is an advantage
- Self-motivated, ability to work at a fast pace.
- Technical skills related to basic equipment maintenance are preferred.
- Detail-oriented with understanding of design principles, typography, colour theory and layout.
- Must be able to collaborate and work and communicate well within a team environment

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT**:
There is a mínimal risk of injury. Work hours are generally during normal business hours and an average of at least 44 hours a week. May require some additional hours.
