Senior Trading Market Analyst

**The Role**:
The purpose of the Oil Market Analyst - Asset Capacity & Maintenance role is to provide core central competence in support of Refinery and Base Chemicals Asset Capacity & Maintenance analysis across T&S Oils as part of the Geneva Initiative. Geneva aims to capture and monetise insights from the information flow advantage Shell Trading possesses, leveraging our domain expertise to generate deep analytical insights, including through advanced analytics. Focus shall be on co-ordinating and integrating regional trading desk analysis to aid formation of competitively advantaged trading convictions through the liquid horizon (generally less than 24 months).

The Oil Market Analyst - Asset Capacity & Maintenance will be a member of the Shell Trading Markets Analysis (STMA) team, reporting to the Manager Shell Trading Market Analysis. STMA covers central baseline management for Supply, Demand, Asset Capacity & Maintenance, Trade Flows and Modelling, supporting the Regional Cross Book Analysts and Crude & Products Commodity Desk Analysts in their fundamental analytics activities. The STMA team represent the primary Trading interface with the Oil Markets Analysis team in Strategy to ensure close collaboration between analytics functions across the Shell Group.

The Oil Market Analyst - Asset Capacity & Maintenance role will lead global efforts to professionalise Asset Capacity & Maintenance tracking, analysis and forecasting for Shell Trading’s Crude and Products Commodity Desks.
- Leverage and support the existing work within STMA, Crude and Product Commodity Desk Analysts, including acting as Product Owner through implementation of the Asset Capacity & Maintenance module in Strategic Geneva
- Build and maintain an intimate knowledge of market dynamics impacting Asset Capacity & Maintenance at an asset and unit level.
- Responsible for co-ordinating the baseline view of capacity and maintenance forecasts through the liquid horizon, working with the Commodity Desk Analysts and Traders to ensure the best possible view is consistently captured.
- Work with the Advanced Analytics team in Geneva, SMEs in Manufacturing and P&T and the Crude & Product Commodity Desks to create bottoms-up, fundamental models for predictive Planned and Unplanned Maintenance refinery and base chemicals units.
- Responsible for Actualisation of historic capacity and maintenance data to ensure STMA, OMA and the Commodity Desks have reliable historic data sets from which to base their analysis.
- Build strong relationships with governmental agencies and key third-party vendors and act as point of contact in support of Shell’s spend on Asset Capacity & Maintenance data in the Trading arena with the External Information Service
- Collaborate with the Oil Market Analysis team as part of a wider competence centre for Asset Capacity & Maintenance in the Shell Group, linking our short, medium and long-term outlooks to leverage insights across each time horizon of focus.
- Assist Oil Market Analyst - Tension to understand the impact of refinery capacity changes on crude and product pricing and trade flows using a LP based tool.

**Stakeholders Management / People & Skills - **The Oil Market Analyst - Asset Capacity & Maintenance will be expected to engage professionally and proactively with the other members of the STMA Team, the Regional Cross Book Analysts, Desk Analysts, the OMA Team, traders, RTLs and myriad stakeholders at the working and leadership levels across the T&S organization and in the functions. This will include defining and delivering analysis requirements, ensuring clear information flow and communication across the regional and global analyst and trader communities and building formal and informal networks to support Geneva activity. Having a technical and/or optimization background in refining, and in-depth knowledge of excel, Power BI and databases would be an advantage.
