**Company background/Role Purpose**

We are seeking a dedicated, self-motivated, and creative Research Scientist specializing in synthetic biology, fermentation bioprocess, and microbiology. This position will be essential to building up our synbio engineering platforms.

**A research scientist **is required to develop industrial workhorse microbes (such as _Escherichia coli_ and yeasts) for overproduction of high-value bioingredients.

**Specific requirements**:
1. PhD degree in microbiology, biochemical engineering, biochemistry or biotechnology

2. Expertise in the fields of microbiology, cloning, and gene/genome editing

3. Expertise in the fields of metabolic engineering and synthetic biology (_E. coli_ and yeasts)—a good track record of publications or patents

4. Experience in the enzyme engineering and high throughput screening

5. Experience in the fermentation engineering (optional but preferred)

6. Ability to work independently and teamwork as well

8. Expected to publish in international peer-reviewed journals and file patents

9. Good communication and writing skills

10. General lab management and leadership skills

**Key responsibility**:
1. Leading in designing and carrying out scientific experiments, and communicating findings to teammates.

2. Develop novel tools in metabolic engineering, enzyme engineering and synthetic biology.

3. Use developed tools to design novel pathways and/or improve existing pathways and strains for production of high-value metabolites.

4. Write and prepare patents

5. Data analysis and prepare written and oral reports

6. Presenting results in lab meeting and scientific conferences
