DESIGNATION : Deputy Director / Director (Design & Development)

RESPONSIBILITIES
Design is central to Gardens by the Bay. Every year, millions of visitors from around the world are drawn to discover wonder at the Gardens thanks to carefully designed immersive experiences, from iconic Supertrees and enchanting floral shows in the conservatories to new attractions and evolving landscapes that are constantly developed or improved. Development is also a key component in the running of the Gardens, from initial planning to completion whilst ensuring project goals and all stakeholders' expectations are met. Reporting to and deputising the General Manager (Master Planning), you will head a multi-disciplinary Design and Development department to lead projects ranging from architecture and interiors to landscaping and wayfinding, as well as event, product and graphic design.

Key Responsibilities:

- **Design assignments**: As head of the design team, you will work closely with senior management to identify, prioritise and lead design discussions. You will develop broad design strategies, ideas and creative sketches to articulate desired project outcomes. You will clarify roles and secure necessary resources, support and approvals, and lead team members and relevant colleagues / partners to develop and implement solutions.
- **Development projects**: You will lead project teams to initiate, manage and complete architectural, interior, spatial and landscaping projects to the Gardens' standards. You will review architecture design and material proposals from consultants and contractors, ensuring compliance with specifications and code requirements. You will develop project programming and work within stipulated timelines and budgets. You will be responsible for managing stakeholders, including board members, senior management, government agencies, and sponsors to gather requirements and needs, ensuring alignment with Gardens by the Bay's existing identity and design philosophy. You will perform the role of Superintending Officer for certain development projects.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in relevant fields such as Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Building or other related disciplines
- Minimum 15 years relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Experienced in project, contract and vendor management and familiar with Public Sector Standard Conditions of Contract (PSSCOC)
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills
- Keen design sensibilities with the ability to balance tradition with innovation
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively
- Experience in navigating regulatory requirements and familiarity with frameworks to enhance project planning and execution will be an advantage
- Familiarity with attractions sector, landscape/ horticulture projects and government policies will be an advantage
