**Position Summary**:
The Ship Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing ship repair projects from inception to completion. This role requires exceptional project management skills, extensive knowledge of maritime industry standards, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time, within scope, and budget.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Project Planning and Execution**:Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
Manage all phases of shipbuilding and repair projects, ensuring milestones are met.
Coordinate with design, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- **Team Leadership**:Lead a team of project engineers, supervisors, and other technical staff.
Provide clear direction, support, and mentorship to team members.
Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
- **Client and Stakeholder Management**:Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
Maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
Regularly update stakeholders on project progress, addressing any issues or changes promptly.
- **Budget and Cost Control**:Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses and controlling costs.
Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with the project.
Ensure all financial documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- **Quality Assurance**:Implement quality control processes to ensure all work meets industry standards and client specifications.
Conduct regular inspections and audits of work progress.
Address any quality issues promptly and effectively.
- **Risk Management**:Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Monitor and manage project risks, implementing contingency plans as necessary.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and environmental standards.
- **Documentation and Reporting**:Maintain detailed project documentation, including progress reports, change orders, and financial records.
Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
Ensure all project records are organized and easily accessible.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Project Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, or marine project management.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale ship projects.
- Strong knowledge of maritime industry standards and regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
- Experience with ISO standards and compliance.
**Work Environment**:
- This position involves working in both office settings and onboard ship environments.
- Occasional travel may be required to meet with clients, inspect projects, or attend industry events.
