For the GS-0601-15 Supervisory Workers' Compensation Claims Examiner you will:
- Responsible for the direction of the DEEOIC with respect to hearings and reviews of the written record. Develop, establish, and evaluate hearings and reviews regulations, policies, and standards directly related to the administrative review options under the jurisdiction of the Branch. Incumbent contributes to those sections of relevance to FAB within the DEEOIC procedure manual.
- Review the hearing transcript and the resulting decisions of each FAB unit; reviews the decisions following a review of the written record as issued by each FAB unit. If necessary, the incumbent returns the case record to the manager for further development and/or modifications or initiates the process resulting in the release of the decision to all interested parties.
- Conduct regular, formal reviews of completed cases involving claims of all types. Works with the managers to ensure and maintain a high level of accuracy therein as well as a consistent, high level of professional writing. Discerns trends in the program to ensure that appropriate overall program controls are in place through the issuance of new guidelines. Incumbent must determine if major projects should be initiated or changed, and the resources to be devoted thereto.
- Review pending cases and issues therein referred by staff at any level for which precedent does not serve as a guide - cases involving unusual questions of fact in the medical, legal or employment arenas. Generally, cases of this type are accompanied by memoranda capturing pertinent facts and complex questions that need to be resolved.

**For GS-15**: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-14 in the Federal Service.
**Specialized Experience **is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Qualifying specialized experience for GS-15 includes:
- Experience making and issuing final decisions that affirm or remand cases for further development.
- Experience leading or directing staff of highly technical and complex medical, administrative, regulatory or policy development program
