
Operational Support Specialist

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Operational Support Specialist to join our team. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies, organising events, and promoting the school’s programs and initiatives to enhance community engagement and enrollment.
The Operational Support Specialist is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the upkeep and proper functioning of school buildings, equipment, and grounds. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and functional environment for students and employees.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Routine Maintenance**: Perform regular inspections and maintenance on equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and other building systems to ensure they are in good working condition.
- **Repairs**: Handle basic repairs including fixing leaks, replacing light bulbs, repairing fixtures, painting, and other minor repairs as needed.
- **Safety and Cleanliness**: Ensure that all work areas and facilities are kept clean, safe, and organized. Address hazards and report any unsafe conditions immediately.
- **Equipment Management**: Monitor and maintain tools, machinery, and equipment, ensuring they are in proper working order and regularly serviced.
- **Preventive Maintenance**: Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and extend the lifespan of assets.
- **Groundskeeping**: Maintain the exterior of the premises, including lawn care, snow removal, and general outdoor maintenance.
- **Assisting with Setup and Teardown**: Provide assistance with setup and teardown of events, furniture rearrangement, and other related activities.
- **Vendor Coordination**: Assist in coordinating with external service providers for specialized maintenance tasks or repairs.
- **Inventory Control**: Keep track of supplies and materials required for maintenance tasks and order replacements as necessary.
- **Record Keeping**: Maintain logs of repairs, maintenance schedules, and other relevant documentation.
**Qualifications**:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical training or certification in maintenance, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC is a plus.
- Previous experience in general maintenance or a related field preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to use hand tools and basic machinery safely and efficiently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills to interact with other staff members and report issues clearly.
**Physical Requirements**:
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor.
- Comfortable working in various environments and weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
