Power & Property Underwriter

Key role is to maintain and develop a profitable portfolio of APAC Power & Property accounts (main focus is on operational Power risks) through his/her relationships with brokers and through new sources, within the guidelines specified at group level that will contribute to the achievement of the underwriting plan
- Contribute to the overall results of the Group by sound technical and profitable underwriting
- Maintain and continue grow SCOR’s market share and leadership position in Power segment
- Coordinate all marketing activities in APAC, representing overall Specialty Insurance (SI) and SCOR P&C’s interest in the market, especially on the assigned Market/Country
- Enhance Group image in the market by efficient and innovative support of client needs
- Actively review new submissions and renewals to determine risk quality and pricing terms in line with underwriting guidelines, pricing tools and market conditions

**Key duties and responsibilities**
- Generate new offers and promote the Group by pro-active marketing in accordance with the defined strategy and risk appetite.
- Receive, select and evaluate offers of Power/Property business from various sources by independently analysing all information including risk engineering reports, calculate ratings, negotiate conditions of the contracts.
- Contribute to the technical knowledge of sectors (e.g. Power) in which the jobholder is working. Regional point of consult for underwriting, training, and development of underwriters for the Power-segment.
- Maintain relationships with clients, cedents and brokers.
- Establish market network in the assigned Market/Country to enhance our local franchise.
- Execute growth strategies including Key account management, and Cross Sell Initiatives. Support other SCOR lines by cross selling (Casualty, Alternative Solutions, Construction ).
- Research, develop and report on new areas of profitable growth, including renewable power business.
- Maintain an accurate database of risks accepted in various IT systems used by SI, e.g. Forewriter, Omega II, SalesForce.
- Produce reports of various formats for reporting purposes as required.
- Contribute to the claims settlement in conjunction with the claims department.
- Positively interact with other departments and colleagues in Specialty Insurance both in APAC and all other SCOR offices

**Special Projects**:

- Engage in global underwriting projects and/or transversal initiatives.

**Experience**:

- 5+ years technical operational power experience, in power industry or re/insurance industry
- Working experience in international/multinational insurer/reinsurer preferred
- Proven underwriting skills for diverse and large power companies (wordings, quotations)
- Working experience and/or technical knowledge in power generation technology
- Risk management knowledge
- Reinsurance and insurance knowledge
- Knowledge of competitors, cedents and brokers within APAC market and internationally
