**What the role is**
- The primary function of the Prosecution Branch of the National Parks Board (“NParks”) is to prosecute offenders under the various Acts administered by the Board in the State Courts. These Acts include the Animals and Birds Act 1965, the Control of Plants Act 1993, the Endangered Species (Import and Export) Act 2006, the Parks and Trees Act 2005 and the Wildlife Act 1965. The Branch’s work involves prosecutorial actions taken to: - Manage and protect Singapore’s parks and nature reserves;
- Safeguard animal welfare and prevent cruelty to animals; and - Punish the illicit trafficking of endangered species.
**What you will be working on**
- As a Deputy Director within the Branch, you will be an integral member of the Prosecution team. Your functions and duties include supervising and/or independently performing the following: - Assessing investigation papers to ensure evidential sufficiency and making sound recommendations;
- Preparing and conducting criminal proceedings in the State Courts, including pre-trial conferences, mentions and trials;
- Vetting Court papers prepared by junior prosecuting officers;
- Providing sound legal advice to the NParks in relation to all prosecution and enforcement related matters;
- Training and mentoring junior prosecutors within the Branch;
- Reviewing and drafting of SOPs, circulars, policies, knowledge management and training materials; and - Any other ad-hoc duties/tasks that may be assigned by Director, Prosecution from time to time.
**What we are looking for**
- Tertiary qualification in Law (LLB) preferred. - Prosecution experience, especially in the conduct of trials. - The ability to advocate and think on one’s feet. - The ability to write clearly and reason compellingly is highly essential. - Experience in managing a team would be advantageous.
