Senior Membrane Engineer, Separation Technologies

START Centre (NTUitive Pte Ltd) is looking for a senior membrane engineer is to provide core membrane technology expertise to all projects involving scaling up of membrane fabrication, module assembly, QC methods and system level testing.

The role of a Senior Membrane Engineer is to gain competency in new membrane technologies to provide technical support across technical teams. The incumbent should plan, manage, and execute relevant component of projects to drive towards project completion and meet project objectives, demonstrate excellent teamwork through good support and collaboration with all team-members, and should have good time management, initiate, and lead communications at an appropriate pace with key stakeholders (management, collaborators) for project progress update to evaluate risk and implementing mitigation plan timely. The incumbent would lead as an exemplary leader for the company and newcomers in safety, technical and integrity aspect and train team members in key specialized skills required for project executions, and continuously improve skills in computational-aided simulations to be the expertise in system design.

The Senior Membrane Engineer is entrusted with supporting multiple verticals like membrane fabrication and process design and simulation. The primary responsibilities include being the membrane technology scale-up expert, project implementation, team training and liaising with key stakeholders including management and collaborators.

The incumbent should have the capability and skillset to manage 3-4 technical projects at any given time, be competent in projection executions for 5 projects; technologies scouting for 5 projects and project management in design and simulation for 5 projects to steer technology to successful scale-up and licensing.

- Guide and support engineers and project leads in membrane fabrication, process pre

- operations e.g., chemical mixing, post-treatment, and membrane performance evaluation.-
- Guide and support engineers and project leads in module fabrication and membrane/module testing, maintenance of testing system, and continuously improvement to module fabrication process.-
- Guide and work with engineering team to streamline membrane scale-up process to align with developmental requirement of new technologies.-
- Scout and liaise with industry collaborators for new projects opportunities and initiations; Assist management in identifying and evaluating projects for translation.-
- Guide membrane engineers to execute preventive maintenance procedures for assigned equipment, in accordance with equipment requirements as recommended by vendors / suppliers.-
- Initiate and lead communications at an appropriate pace with key stakeholders (management, collaborators) for project progress update to evaluate risk and implement mitigation plan timely and thus minimizing lapses.-
- Support procurement of parts and/or securing of services for preventive or breakdown maintenance works where applicable.-
- Uphold strict compliance with Environment, Safety and Health regulations.- Requirements:
- Masters in Engineering (Chemical/Environmental/Other related discipline) and/or at least 8 years of experience in membrane separation/water treatment technologies.-
- Trained in or familiar with health, safety and environment (HSE) practices/protocols, e.g. safety risk assessment, LOTO etc.-
- Strong knowledge in new technology development, engineering, control, design, and troubleshooting.-
- Relevant experience in new technology development, engineering, control, design, and troubleshooting.-
- Industrial experience in in hollow-fiber and flatsheet membrane/module fabrication is strongly preferred.-
- Experience in polymer chemistry and/or membranes technology is an advantage.-
- Proven ability to manage communications with collaborators.-
- Trained in or familiar with new technology development, engineering, control, and design.-
- Aptitude in process/equipment continuous improvement and troubleshooting.-
- Good communication, oral and written skills. Hands-on problem-solving attitude.-
- Self-initiative, highly motivated, self-starter with ability to perform duties independently, with mínimal supervision.-
