- **Role purpose**
To support the PBCI Sponsor / Partner with the management, development and promotion of A&O’s Pro Bono and Community Investment (PBCI) practice. The role will be based in the Singapore office with a focus on growing and developing the existing PBCI relationships and programmes into a market leading PBCI practice for our Singapore office.
- Over time, there will be potential to expand the scope to APAC regional coverage to focus on developing new PBCI initiatives in A&O APAC offices.

**Role and responsibilities**

**Management of Singapore Pro Bono and Community Investment Programme**
- Responsible for the development and delivery of a market leading pro bono programme in Singapore to respond to demand from clients, fee earners and potential recruits, including working closely with Marketing and client Relationship Managers on client collaborations in support of our PBCI partners.
- Connecting Singapore with other offices across A&O’s international network to collaborate on regional and global pro bono matters.
- Developing a robust system to track and evaluate matters originating in Singapore for internal and external reporting purposes.
- Delivering timely reports on Singapore PBCI matters to include volunteer time accrued and impact of the work undertaken.
- Representing A&O’s Singapore / APAC pro bono legal practice at external events, including presenting at conferences and seminars.

**Client relationships and matter management**
- Managing and developing relationships with civil society organisations, primarily those focussing on the following areas:

- Social finance and impact investment;
- Social mobility;
- Protection of human rights;
- Advancement and protection of women and children;
- Equal access to education for children;
- Access to legal and social rights for individuals;
- Inclusion and diversity; and
- environment and climate change.
- Managing delivery of strategic and market leading PBCI work with A&O staff and commercial clients, civil society clients, A&O’s global charity partner and pro bono brokers to ensure that all PBCI work is delivered to a high standard.
- Proactively identifying opportunities for fee-earners to undertake pro bono and community investment work across all groups and at all levels of experience, including managing risk, conflicts and relationships.
- Working with colleagues to develop and deliver community investment opportunities for the benefit of local communities struggling with financial hardship and other social problems.
- Being the primary contact in Singapore for our global charity partner on PBCI work and developing PBCI opportunities to maximise the success and impact of the global charity partnership.
- Assisting the PBCI global team to support PBCI champions in Singapore by referring matters from international clearinghouses and having some responsibility for directing and supporting fee earners providing pro bono legal advice.
- Proactively managing risk on pro bono matters including matter inception processes and responding to any negative issues appropriately by escalating the matter via the correct internal channels.

**Communication and marketing**
- Responsibility for facilitating opportunities for staff to collaborate with A&O commercial clients on PBCI matters, including:

- Liaising with Business Development, Marketing and Client Relationship teams to deliver a co-ordinated response to commercial client requests;
