A technician is required to support technical co-ordination and delivery of electrical, electronic and ICT work related to the ADIO/ESG/IPI Smart Cities Project (summary below). The role is required to support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities of equipment related to smart cities and smart energy systems in the demonstration. The successful applicant should have familiarity and experience of working with electrical and power systems infrastructure (PV, batteries, LV Distribution etc), HVAC and building automation systems (KNX, Modbus etc) and familiarity with basic IoT and ICT concepts (NodeRED, MQTT, etc)

Summary of the project

The ADIO/ESG/IPI Smart Cities Pilot Project proposes to develop and implement a prototype of a supervisory, cloud-based aggregated energy management system (EMS). The EMS offers a new integrated approach for distributed optimization of multiple buildings with integrated Photovoltaics, Wind Turbines, Battery Storage, HVAC, CCHP and district heating/cooling systems. The project will involve technical development and implementation of cloud-based smart solutions for energy efficiency in the built environment, focusing on software development and system integration for energy control, analytics, and visualisation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To take a supporting role in technical co-ordination and delivery of electrical, electronic and ICT work related to the ADIO/ESG/IPI Smart Cities Project.

2. To support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities of equipment related to smart cities and smart energy systems.

3. To take a role in the dissemination and coordination of Cutech activities related to the smart cities project.

4. To carry out related administration and documentation duties for the ADIO/ESG/IPI Smart Cities Project.

5. To represent and promote Cutech activities at internal and external meetings, conferences and events.

6. To be involved in tasks related to the ADIO/ESG/IPI Smart Cities Project, to liaise with partners, maintain quality procedures and monitor research activities and deliverables.

7. Adhere to and advise about relevant Health and Safety Policy, practice and guidelines.

8. Promote Equality and Diversity.

9. Any other reasonable duties that may be allocated from time to time commensurate with the grading of the post.
