**Job Summary**:
The System Administration and Management (SAM) Engineer will be
responsible for performing system administration and management activities to support
our company's and in-scope institutions' business requirements. This role involves
managing a variety of operating systems, system software, and hardware, ensuring high
availability, and maintaining compliance with ITIL framework V4.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- System Administration: Perform system administration tasks for various operating
systems including Microsoft Windows Server, Redhat Linux, Suse Linux, Ubuntu,
Solaris, IBM AIX, Oracle Linux, and more.
- System Software and Hardware Management: Manage system software and
hardware such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Azure AD, file servers, clustering
solutions, SAN/NAS storage, virtualization platforms, and more.
- Monitoring and Support: Proactively monitor development, staging, production,
and disaster recovery systems for anomalies or service disruptions. Diagnose and
resolve system faults.
- Transition Support: Assist with transition activities to take over responsibilities
from existing vendors or in-house personnel.
- Compliance and Security: Ensure compliance with legal licensing regulations and
internal security policies. Perform secure and timely patching for all managed
systems.
- Documentation and Reporting: Develop, maintain, and update system
documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and various reports
including security, incident, and performance reports.
- Automation and Optimization: Utilize automation tools to optimize manpower
usage and improve productivity in areas such as system provisioning, operation
monitoring, fault isolation, and recovery.
- User Support: Provide support for privilege/special user administration activities
and ensure effective communication with end users.
- Backup Management: Coordinate with backup teams to configure and test
backups, develop and maintain backup scripts, and perform restoration testing.
- System Access Management: Manage access controls, perform privilege user
identity management functions, and ensure compliance with access control policies.
- Availability Management: Utilize enterprise systems monitoring tools for proactive
monitoring, develop availability plans, and track hardware maintenance.
- Disaster Recovery Planning: Assist in disaster recovery planning, conduct annual
DR exercises, and develop recovery plans for critical computing components.
- Configuration Management: Maintain up-to-date documentation for configuration
items, manage hardware and software configurations, and ensure compliance with
configuration management policies.
- Performance Management: Monitor and report server performance, perform
system configurations and modifications, and establish performance thresholds.
- Problem Management: Coordinate problem management processes, document
and communicate critical problems, and ensure proper closure of issues.
- Change Management: Conduct impact analysis for proposed changes, manage
change requests, and implement approved changes.
- Audit Support: Support periodic audits, extract system information for audits, and
follow up on audit findings.
- Capacity Planning: Monitor system resource usage, assist in testing server
performance, and provide capacity usage trending reports.
- Security Management: Define security requirements, establish access control
measures, perform periodic security audits, and support security investigations.
- Equipment and Software Maintenance: Coordinate third-party maintenance
support, monitor equipment health, and recommend spare parts or equipment
configurations.
- Redeployment and Decommissioning: Perform de-installation and redeployment
of equipment, ensure secure data removal, and manage asset movement.
- Reporting Metrics: Provide various reports including executive summary, security,
incident, problem, availability, performance, and change management reports.
**Qualifications**:
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or
related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in system administration
and management.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix), system
software (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP), virtualization platforms (VMWare, Hyper-V), and
storage solutions (SAN, NAS).
Certifications: Relevant technical certifications such as VMware Certified Professional
(VCP), Microsoft MCSE, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or equivalent.
Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills. Ability to
work effectively in a team and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
ITIL Certification: ITIL certified and well-versed in ITIL environment.
Additional Requirements:
- For Shift work: Ability to work on different shifts, including nights, weekends, and
holidays.
- Availability: Must be available for on-call
