Singapore NATIONAL TRADES UNION CONGRESS Full time

The Assistant Director resides in the Policy department in NTUC and plays a leading role in expanding public support for the Progressive Wage Model (PWM), a key platform for NTUC that provides workers with better wage, welfare, and work prospects commensurate with productivity gains and skills-upgrading.

In this role, you will develop and implement a PWM research agenda by identifying Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) partners, thought leaders and partner organisations and work with them to commission and produce policy briefs, surveys, and publications to shape the public policy agenda and achieve NTUC’s advocacy objectives.

Additionally, you will work closely with the Deputy Director and Principal Policy Officer to support the development of an advocacy strategy to build public mindshare on PWM issues. You will support labour Members of Parliament (MPs) in advocacy, working with internal stakeholders on public engagements and media commentaries to enhance awareness of NTUC’s work in the PWM space.

**Requirements**:

- Strong interest in and understanding of Singapore’s socio-economic policy landscape, and passionate about making a difference in uplifting people’s lives as Singapore develops into a modern society
- Experienced and confident policy advocate, with coalition-building experience working in academia, the public or people sector in policy, communications, community engagement or advocacy roles
- University degree in Political Science, Economics, Law, Communications or any other related fields
- At least seven years of working experience
- High level of initiative and drive; able to work well independently, and as a member of the team
- Experience working and engaging with Institute of Higher Learning partners, thought leaders and members of the media
- Experience conducting rigorous research projects (including surveys, focus group discussions) that supports the advocacy agenda
- Strong interpersonal communication, negotiation and people skills, able to develop strong relationships with stakeholders to shape outcomes for represented workers
