- Supervise BOH team during shifts, assign timely break times, assigning roles and ensuring smooth operations.
- Provide real-time coaching to reinforce proper food prep, cooking, and cleaning standards.
- Recognize and encourage team members to keep morale high, especially during peak hours.

**Training & Support**
- Assist in training new team members on BOH procedures, food safety, and equipment use.
- Ensure cross-training is practiced, preparing team members to handle multiple stations.
- Act as a mentor and role model, promoting Chick-fil-A’s values of teamwork, discipline, and care.
- Identity and promote team members to become team member trainers.
**Culture & Accountability**
- Promote a respectful, safe, and supportive kitchen environment.
- Address performance issues directly and fairly, escalating to the BOH Manager when needed.

**2) Execution**

The BOH Team Leader will employ best efforts and use all tools and resources to deliver the Winning Hearts Every Day Strategy consisting of Operational Excellence and 2nd Mile Service with emphasis on Core 4 delivered by attentive and friendly team members and recover any feedback quickly.
- Ensure food is prepared according to Chick-fil-A recipes, portion standards, and presentation requirements. Produce top quality food.
- Ensure opening and closing procedures are executed properly.
- Conduct shift-level checks of food temperatures, labelling, and storage practices.
- Execute food safety protocols in line with SFA regulations and Chick-fil-A’s ORC
- Execute a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment at all times.
- Execute a clean, clutter free kitchen floor/break-room floor and office floor at all times.
- Uphold proper use, cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
- Receive and store inventory according to guidelines.
- Lead BOH team during service, coordinating prep, cooking, and handoffs to FOH.
- Monitor pace of work, adjusting team assignments to maintain flow during peak hours.
- Troubleshoot minor issues with equipment or procedures, escalating larger issues to the BOH Manager.
- Track prep levels during shifts, ensuring sufficient food without over-prepping.
- Minimize waste by coaching proper portioning and storage practices.
- Report shortages or inconsistencies in supplies to the BOH Manager.
- Conduct regular inspections of cleanliness, sanitation, and equipment functionality.
- Troubleshoot simple operational challenges quickly to maintain service flow.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts and prevent food shortages or excess waste.
- Manage kitchen costs by controlling waste, optimizing prep levels, and ensuring efficient labour deployment.
- Continuously trains and evaluates all team member trainers
- Download key messages from BOH manager meeting to team members for continuous improvements
**3) Metrics**
The BOH Team Leader will be evaluated on:
- **Food Safety & Quality**
- Consistency of food prepared during shifts
- Compliance with food safety checks (temps, labelling, storage)
- **Operational Execution**
- Shift-level speed of service and production flow
- Waste percentage during assigned shifts
- **People Metrics**
- Training and readiness of BOH team on shift
- Team morale and shift-level engagement
- Retention of trained team members
- **Shift Discipline**
- Adherence to checklists and shift routines
- Cleanliness and organization of BOH during and after shifts
**4) Additional Duties in Support of Other Functions**
- Partner with FOH Team Leader to ensure smooth coordination of orders.
- Support People Ops with training feedback for new hires.
- Assist with setup for catering or special events when required.
- Act as point of contact for the shift when the BOH Manager is not present.
- Jump in to manage a station should be need arises with least amount of stress possible.
- Take special care to team member doing the hardest job in the kitchen - Dishwasher.
