**Position Summary**:The Warehouse Assistant Manager plays a critical role in overseeing and supporting the wholesale operations of the company, particularly in the handling and storage of commodities such as onions, potatoes, gingers, and related products. The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Warehouse Manager in managing warehouse activities, optimizing inventory control, preventing wastage, and ensuring a safe working environment. In the case of a shortage of manpower, the Assistant Manager is expected to provide assistance to the loading and unloading staff from containers.

Key Responsibilities:

- **Warehouse Operations Management**:Assist the Warehouse Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient workflows, and maintaining productivity.
Supervise warehouse staff, assigning tasks, and providing guidance to ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of commodities.
Collaborate with the Warehouse Manager to develop and implement operational procedures, policies, and best practices.
Monitor inventory levels, track stock movement, and conduct regular audits to maintain accurate records and minimize wastage.
- **Inventory Control and Quality Assurance**:Support the implementation of inventory management systems to track stock levels, prevent stockouts, and minimize losses.
Assist in forecasting demand, collaborating with procurement and sales teams to ensure optimal stock availability.
Conduct regular quality checks on commodities, enforce proper storage conditions, and address any issues promptly.
Implement measures to reduce spoilage, improve product shelf life, and maintain high-quality standards.
- **Staff Supervision and Training**:Assist in the recruitment, training, and supervision of warehouse personnel, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge.
Provide guidance, support, and feedback to warehouse staff, fostering a positive work environment and encouraging teamwork.
Help develop work schedules, assign tasks, and manage staffing levels to meet operational requirements efficiently.
Assist in conducting performance evaluations, identifying training needs, and promoting continuous improvement.
- **Safety and Compliance**:Support the Warehouse Manager in ensuring adherence to safety protocols, regulations, and hygiene standards.
Assist in conducting regular safety inspections, identifying potential hazards, and implementing appropriate corrective actions.
Help enforce security measures to prevent theft, unauthorized access, and damage to commodities.
Stay updated on industry best practices, safety guidelines, and regulatory changes related to warehousing and commodities.
- **Assist in Loading and Unloading**:In the event of a shortage of manpower, actively participate in the loading and unloading of commodities from containers.
Provide hands-on support to the loading and unloading staff, ensuring efficient and safe handling of commodities.
Assist in organizing and arranging commodities inside containers to optimize space utilization and minimize damage risks.
Help identify, document, and report any discrepancies or damages during loading and unloading processes.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- High School Diploma in logistics or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience 3 years in warehouse operations, preferably in the wholesale or agricultural industry.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of commodity handling, storage techniques, and inventory control.
- Excellent leadership and management skills to supervise and motivate a diverse team.
- Proficiency in using inventory management systems and software to track and manage stock.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, hygiene standards, and compliance requirements related to warehousing and commodities.
- Physical capability to perform manual tasks, including lifting heavy objects and operating warehouse equipment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping, inventory management, and quality assurance.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with employees, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
