Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for finance and accounting matters pertaining to SCOR Reinsurance Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, Australian Branch. This will include contribution and completion of internal / external reporting, statutory returns, and general accounting functions, reconciliation, tax and other associated accounting activities.
The Senior accountant’s main internal responsibility is to ensure that all Group and Division reporting requirements are fulfilled in compliance with Group IFRS standards.
The Senior accountant’s main external responsibility is to ensure that all local regulatory and statutory reporting requirements are fulfilled, in compliance with local regulatory and statutory accounting standards.
**Responsibilities:
Internal / Group reporting
- Complete and deliver complex reporting requirements in accordance with IFRS and local requirements.
- Co-operate with Finance team members at quarter end in completing all quarter end tasks, including raising journals, reconciliations and filings.
- Perform analysis of financial results for Group Reporting
- Oversight general ledger of the Australian Branch, including management expenses, review of financial payments, maintenance of accruals and analysis of budget versus actuals
- Active involvement in budgeting and forecasting processes, including business plans, capital and cashflow forecast.
- Respond to resolve queries from Group and various business stakeholders
- Maintain and ensure ICS Controls are implemented and properly documented in Asia Pacific offices.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) Reporting Standards for General Insurance
IFRS reporting
- Ensure that all technical and non-technical items are properly accounted for in SAP for quarterly close, this includes reconciliation to the insurance system
- Preparation of IFRS tax computation
- Preparation of IFRS closing deliverables in accordance to Singapore Hub Finance closing calendar requirement in timely manner
- Attend to any queries or requests which Paris Hub Finance may have regarding IFRS closing and BFC
- Analysis of IFRS results, including variances analysis
- Support of the Financial Controller during Quarter Closing activities
Regulatory reporting
- Preparation of insurance returns and financial statements in accordance with local requirements.
- Reconciliation of GAAP differences between IFRS, Local GAAP and regulatory reporting
- Liaise with external auditors with regards to ensure deliverables are met.
- Monitor and ensure branch is solvent at all times
- Preparation of annual surveys and ad-hoc requests from APRA and relevant authorities
- Preparation of quarterly BAS computation for submission to Australian Tax Office (ATO)
- Participate in project(s) related to regulatory and reporting changes
Ad hoc projects
- Participate actively in Group or regional projects as arising.
**Qualifications:
**Experience**:
- 7 years of relevant experience, preferably in insurance or in auditing insurance companies.
- Good IT skills, well versed in Excel.
- SAP knowledge would be an advantage.
- Good to have: Experience in IFRS and Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) reporting

- Have a tactful approach to resolving problems and have a pleasant personality.
**Additional Information**:
- This is a 12 months contract with the potential to be converted to a permanent role
