Team Overview:
Financial Lines plays an important part of Everest expansion in Asia, as a key portfolio for our growth ambition.
Role Purpose:
- Managing a team of Underwriters, being responsible for building and growing as well as the profitability of the Financial Lines business (Commercial Management Liability, Financial Institutions, Professional Indemnity and Cyber) in Asia in line with Everest International plans and underwriting strategy.
- To support and drive the development, marketing and relationship management (both client and broker) of our growing Financial Lines portfolio in Asia.
- Working with the Head of Asia to develop the Financial Lines portfolio in new countries / territories as opportunities are identified.
Key Accountabilities:
- Working within the authority granted, writing a profitable book of Financial Lines business per the Underwriting guidelines
- Expand and maintain existing broker relationships and other sources of distribution, and developing new relationships, where this is consistent with the objectives set in the Business Plan
- Expanding the current product range to allow Everest to compete with the market leaders in the sector
- Quoting and leading the placements of Financial Lines clients, and effectively managing any specific MGA clients
- To refer as appropriate risks exceeding prescribed underwriting authority, and take referral from Asian underwriters where risks exceed their authority
- Develop business through execution of new ideas in addition to utilising all the available Everest resources to grow, develop and maintain a profitable book of Financial Lines business
- To liaise with the Claims Manager on claims related issues and participate in account and management reviews
- To participate in the underwriting peer review process at the weekly and monthly underwriting meetings, as required
- To assist with the completion and review of strategic and underwriting guidelines & pricing models
- To contribute to the regular analysis and review of underwriting practices and procedures
- To assist in the improvement of the management information systems, rating models, underwriting manuals, service standards, marketing materials, website and risk management and claims functions
- Ensure that documentation is completed timely and accurately according to Everest International standards
- Effectively communicate with management on all issues both within and outside the Unit as needed
- Marketing Everest International in Asia through contributing to articles and representing Everest at conferences as speaker or panel member
- Collaborate with Everest colleagues in the International office locations, as well as in the United States
- To monitor and keep abreast of changes in underwriting, regulation and compliance
- Work with the International Head of Financial Lines to build, develop and mentor a team which can deliver strategic goals outlined either above or by executive management
- Keep leadership and the HR department apprised of any HR issues that arise, including any disciplinary actions that may be necessary
Professional Experience:
- Good understanding of underwriting in the Asian insurance marketplace
- In-depth knowledge and experience of Underwriting Financial Lines products
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
