Our team of experienced actuaries supports the actuarial pricing, portfolio management and business intelligence duties for accident & health, travel, and warranty & services products across Asia Pacific countries. Our team provides actuarial rate reviews and other analytical support associated with product reviews, product development, new business opportunities, profitability analysis, and client reviews. We leverage internal and external data, along with classical actuarial techniques and predictive modeling to support its mission. Additionally, our team performs deep-dive analytics into portfolio results and trends using a variety of analytical techniques. We collaborate and work closely with Underwriting, Marketing, Operations, Finance and Business Management Team to achieve AIG’s business objectives.

About the role

What you need to know:
The Actuarial Manager/Regional Actuary will be a key member in APAC Accident & Health (A&H), Travel and Warranty Pricing and Portfolio Management team (PPM), working closely with regional business, underwriting team and local business units to achieve goals and deliver on strategic initiatives supporting the business. You will be a “go-to” source for help and support because of your deep technical knowledge and expertise. As an experienced team member, you are expected to drive continual improvement and impacting the way that things get done. Your key responsibilities and accountabilities include:

- Ensure appropriate loss cost assumptions are adopted, expenses are loaded as per global expense guidance and pricing methodologies are actuarially sound and in accordance with global pricing guidance
- Ensure accuracy of quoting and rating systems, working with Regional and Global Underwriters and Actuarial Staff to ensure best practices are followed including appropriate risk loads for catastrophic risk, commissions, expenses, and profit loadings.
- Perform, upon request, peer review for Actuarial work performed both by other Actuarial staff.
- Collaborate with Claims, Finance, Underwriting functions, and Data Analytics and Analysis function to ensure data used for pricing and monitoring is complete, accurate, adequate and timely.
- Support the annual Marketing Allowable review exercise, compute lapse ratios for different segments, and implement the Marketing Allowable in Salesforce.
- Development and production of premium adequacy reports and budget loss ratio estimates for various segments
- Comply with key regulatory and risk management procedures, as well as audit requirements

What we are looking for:

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Mathematics/Actuarial Science
- Demonstrated work experience in insurance or reinsurance
- Fellow or nearly qualified in a globally recognized actuarial association including but not limited to Casualty Actuarial Society, Society of Actuaries, Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or local Actuarial Governing body
- Significant pricing experience in Personal Line Insurance (relevant pricing experience in A&H, Travel and Warranty Services would be preferred)
- Proven proficiency in actuarial concepts/methodologies with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and thorough understanding of general insurance including underwriting policies, claims handling policies and local legislation
- Excellent communication both written and verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage tight deadlines, priorities, and handle multiple projects concurrently
- Ability to pick up coding, programming languages and database skills (SQL and/or R is preferred)
- Highly motivated, strong attention to details, willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic and fast changing environment
