We are seeking a Photonics Sensor Engineer with experience in photonics chip integration and engineering, to support the development of cutting-edge optical sensing systems. This role involves working across the full technology stack—from photonic circuit design and integration, to system-level build and testing. The engineer will focus on integrating photonic circuits using commercial Silicon and III-V material platforms, and contribute to both component

**Responsibilities**:
**Design & Simulation**
- Design photonic circuits and sensor architectures for integrated photonics using platforms such as silicon photonics and III-V semiconductors;
- Perform simulation and modeling of optical devices and waveguide systems (e.g., using Lumerical, COMSOL, Ansys).

**Chip Integration & Engineering**
- Lead integration efforts involving heterogeneous photonics, including chip-to-chip (Si and III-V), fiber coupling, and hybrid assembly;
- Collaborate with foundries and packaging partners for tape-out, packaging, and prototyping of integrated photonic chips.

**Development & Characterization**
- Develop test platforms and execute optical, electronic, and thermal measurements across photonic components and systems;
- Conduct electrical-optical testing and characterization of photonic chips in lab and real-world conditions.

**System Build & Demonstration**
- Assemble and validate full sensor systems, integrating optics, electronics, software, and mechanical components;

**Cross-functional Collaboration**
- Work closely with teams in electronics, firmware, mechanical design, and signal processing to ensure system integration and reliability;
- Contribute to IP generation, documentation, and reporting of technical progress and milestones.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field;
- 2+ years of experience in photonic integrated circuit (PIC) development, chip-level testing, or optical sensor R&D;
- Practical experience with Silicon Photonics, III-V integration, and hybrid photonic systems;
- Hands-on expertise in lab-based optical alignment, testing, and automated measurement setups;
- Familiarity with photonic design tools (e.g., KLayout, IPKISS, Lumerical), and data analysis platforms (e.g., Python, MATLAB);
- Knowledge of wafer-level testing, optical interposers, or advanced packaging techniques; and
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with a proactive, hands-on approach to engineering challenges.
