**About the Position**

This position is based in Singapore, responsible for managing daily Customs compliance activity of Japan Sagami Distribution Center to ensure Caterpillar parts and product flow across international borders in compliance with Customs regulatory requirements. In addition, this role will ensure Customs compliance requirements are met for Caterpillar through a risk management and controls environment.

**The primary responsibilities for this position will be to (but not limited to)**
- Collaborate with Japan local transportation team and inventory management team, deeply engage in customs daily operation to ensure implementation of standardized process.
- Manage Japan Customs brokers and tariff classification assignment.
- Report of trade compliance KPI’s, transactional review to determine areas of risk, development and maintenance of controlled process documentation, management of core trade compliance data.
- Management of Customs record-keeping requirements where applicable, analyze and determine duty opportunities, draft responses to Customs government inquiries, and prepare analysis and material for review with supervisor on Customs legal reviews.
- Implement Global project deployment in JP

**Background / Experience**:

- Japanese language is a must.
- Quick leaner with good communication skill,
- Requires knowledge of trade regulation, logistics and transportation usually gained through 2-3 years related progressive experience. Brokerage or forwarder working experience is a plus.
- understanding of international supply chain, both physical flow and data flow including ocean carriers, air carriers, freight forwarders, and Customs brokers
- Ability to simplify, translate and communicate complex concepts
- Understanding of risk management and controls environment
- Understanding of Inco Terms

**_Experience Desired: _**
- Bachelor Degree in a trade/logistic field.
- Understanding of other government agency importing requirements
- Experience in customs trade compliance activity
