**Job Description**:
Roles & Responsibilities
We are seeking a Senior or Lead Economist to join the Asia macroeconomics team, based in Singapore. The role offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with a team of skilled and experienced economists and for rapid skills and career progression.
**Key responsibilities**
Forecasting and research
- Produce monthly or quarterly forecasts for some Asian economies, using the GEM, and write Country Economic Forecast reports for those economies.
- Contribute to our Global Macro Service output, including writing Research Briefings on specific themes and economies within Asia.
- Produce and present client reports on the region.
- Support the team through the production of charts, tables and other content when required.
- Collaborate with the macro consulting and other OE teams on projects and presentations as needed.
Client and sales support
- Provide support for sales staff through client and prospective client meetings
- Handle client queries relating to the Asian region and forecasts, as well as Oxford Economics’ products and services.
**Person Specification**
This role would suit a professional macroeconomist who has been closely involved in analysing and/or forecasting Asia economies. Although detailed knowledge of the ASEAN economies would be an advantage, you may instead have focused on one or more other major economies within the region.
Prior experience of macroeconomic modelling and/or forecasting is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication is required, including the ability to explain economic concepts and quantitative results, as well as their implications, to non-specialists.
- A post-graduate degree in economics or a closely-related quantitative discipline is essential.
In addition, we will be looking for:
- Experience of quantitative economic analysis using a variety of data and tools including Excel and experience in manipulating large data sets.
- A track-record of successful quantitative project work and report-writing.
- Evidence of being proactive and creative in using economics to answer (external, internal or policymaker) clients’ questions.
- Good project and client management skills and ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to going the extra mile to produce rigorous, accurate work, within the constraints of the time and resources available.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively when faced with multiple work streams.
**Terms of the position**
- Remuneration: Competitive salary plus performance-related bonus.
