Reporting: Vice President, Public Markets

**Description**

Temasek’s Derivatives team is part of the Investment Group (IG) Public Markets team, and responsible for structuring and trading of all the Firm’s investment-related derivative transactions. The Investment group uses derivatives for three primary purposes: (1) to enhance yield on the portfolio, (2) to protect the portfolio, and (3) to express macro-investment views. The team partners closely with the Portfolio Strategy & Risk Group (“PSRG”), which has a macro and portfolio-level lens. PSRG drives our firm’s overall investment stance, forms views on all major economies the firm is active in and manages a liquid portfolio comprising of risk and defensive assets. We work with the wider group on portfolio construction, risk-taking and hedging decisions across major asset classes, covering idea generation, analytics development and trade implementations.

We are seeking an inquisitive self starter to join the Public Markets Team as an Associate/Senior Associate based in Singapore, to work within the sub-team partnering with Portfolio Strategy & Risk Group (PSRG). The position’s primary responsibility will be (1) assisting to identify thematic opportunities across rates, commodities and FX, (2) supporting the structuring and execution of any macro trades, (3) enhancing the firm’s cross-asset knowledge. Communication and presentation skills are crucial as we work closely with other groups within Temasek (eg. Macro strategy, PSRG Office, etc) and ideas are often presented to different forums to gain buy-in and approval.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Structure and execute global macro trades for Temasek across rates, commodities and FX
- Identify opportunities based on macro fundamentals (risk taking or hedging) and collaborate with PSRG / IG teams to manage Temasek’s portfolio
- Understand and highlight macro linkages between global assets and equity portfolios
- Assist to build and maintain network of buy-side contacts and industry specialists
- Support team on operational aspects leading up to trade execution

**Essential Skills**:

- 1-3 years of progressive work experience in financial markets, with significant focus on fixed income / commodities / macro markets
- Fixed income / commodities / macro background, with ability to form short-medium term views on prices / levels in order to identify opportunities
- Macro trading, structuring or tactical strategist experience would be favorably looked at
- Strong understanding of financial markets and their short, medium and long-term drivers
- Proficiency in research and data analysis (including Bloomberg, Excel and other data toolkits)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team-player, with ability to collaborate effectively cross-functionally
