Singapore MERANTI POWER PTE. LTD. Full time

Meranti Power Pte. Ltd., a fully owned subsidiary of Energy Market Authority, is establishing an Operations Department to operate two open cycle gas turbines at our power generation station.

We are inviting applicants for the position of Head of Operations, who shall report to Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the smooth running of the entire operations of power plants. The Head of Operations shall assume the following:
**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for setting up an effective and efficient Operations Department.
- Responsible for managing and operating the power plant in a safe, efficient and timely manner in accordance with operational guidelines, regulatory requirements and the Singapore Electricity Market Rules, to meet power plant generation output requirements.
- Managing a group of shift charge engineers and operations personnel such as technical officers and/or technicians.
- Implement strategies and action plans to ensure that the power plant supports corporate strategic initiatives.
- Establish group and individual accountabilities for operations problem solving and cost management. Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact-based problem solving.
- As a key member of the management team; assess and address issues to identify and implement improvements towards efficient and effective operations.
- Review plant production reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas of improvement.
- Establish and implement department wide policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with management team, technical and operations staff members as necessary.
- Develop operational policies, standards and procedures for the operations of the power plant.
- Set operations technical goals within broad outlines provided by top management.
- Perform managerial functions such as reviewing and writing management reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
- Communicate with management and operations personnel to develop standard operating procedures.
- Keep abreast of technical and operations developments in relations to the power plant.

Workplace Safety and Health Responsibilities
- Develop and manage plant safety Operations Management
- Manage Permit to Work System (Issue Permit)
- Observe safety policy and participate in safety audit
- Lead Fire-fighting Team
- Lead Plant Emergency Response Team

**Requirements**:

- Education in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years’ of relevant experience in a power plant
- Strong knowledge and proven track record in similar experience in a power plant
- Good knowledge of regulatory requirements for operating power plants and the Singapore Electricity Market Rules.
- Excellent working knowledge and technical expertise in operations management
- Excellent leadership and management of staff skills
- Effective communication, innovative and excellent problem solver
- Ability to develop staff skills and competencies.
- Work location is in Jurong Island (Transport to and from Jurong East MRT is provided)
