SSON Analytics is the global data analytics centre of the Shared Services & Outsourcing Network (SSON), a division of IQPC. At SSON Analytics, we offer visual data insights that are simple, accurate, and digestible through a variety of data tools and analytics reports to the SSON community (i.e. global business services executives and business leaders who leverage technology and best practices to improve operational efficiency).
**Job description:
We are looking for an experienced data analytics and commercial manager, to design, innovate and deliver business reports, data tools and data insights for a variety of B2B sectors using a sophisticated combination of internal and external combination of datasets.
The Manager is heavily involved in the overall commercial success of the business with specific responsibility for motivating and managing the team to meet their targets, including the volume, timeliness, completeness and accuracy of products. Key duties include recruitment, training, defining goals, allocating resources appropriately across the team, performance management and staff development.
We are looking for experienced manager with an entrepreneurial mind-set and strong leadership qualities to join us in this senior leadership role. You are a critical member of the leadership and project team and will be heavily involved in leading and managing strategic projects and engagements within our key verticals.
**Responsibilities:
- Hire and manage the analytics team. Collaborate with engineering and design teams to deliver the required features and data, including preparing necessary technical specifications, coordinating development activity and tracking progress of in-flight projects
- Work closely with sales, marketing, customers and technology partners to deeply understand, document, analyze and synthesize customer needs into product priorities, roadmap plans, and detailed specifications
- Design and automate the production of insights reports and data models based on queries to the prepared dataset and source external datasets to enhance those reports and products.
- Process, review and interpret large bodies of qualitative and quantitative data on customer usage patterns to uncover new insights
- Ensuring the reports or data models are well-written/presented, unbiased, complete, accurate and up-to-date
- Build deep understanding and empathy for business users. Help clients interpret the insights reports, carrying out deep-dive data analyses where needed to provide further clarification
- Manage complex, cross-functional projects across multiple teams. As part of a larger team, support project/program management for all project planning and technical assessment. Act as a point of contact within the business for all technical matters and provide technical support during project implementation.
- Assist with the compilation and distribution of key metrics and regular reports relating to profile data
- Innovate and add value to existing data products.
**Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering with experience in a related field and at least 7 years of experience in the analytics domain. Knowledge and experience in Data Mining, Machine Learning, Statistics, Operations Research or a related field would be an advantage.
- Strong skills in large scale optimization models, frontier models, frontier extension models, large scale geo-spatial risk assessment models, gravity models, population flow models, census methods and ecological sampling techniques.
- Minimum one year’s experience of managing and motivating a team within a commercial data/information operation, creating new metrics, indices, and performance measurement.
- Advanced usage of analytical tools. Strong ability to analyze, interpret and present data using advanced graphing software e.g. Tableau, D3, QlikView, Highcharts. Knowledgeable of open source visualization tools, Java and social data extraction would be a plus.
- Experience with large data sets and knowledge of both structured and unstructured data.
- Familiarity with a variety of software development methodologies, e.g. Agile, Feature Driven Development, Rapid Application Development.
- Expert analytical thinking and ability to provide thought leadership with the ability to communicate analytical findings to senior management.
