We are working exclusively with our client that has Logistics operations worldwide. As part of their global expansion, they have created a new business entity focusing on the Ocean networks and we are looking for a Leader who will lead the ocean network strategy, and build/develop his/her own team.
The Challenges
Define, implement, and execute the Global Ocean Procurement Strategy
Conduct Global Carrier Meeting and negotiate with carriers to secure a competitive rate and space allocation (commitment) / conditions.
Build a new procurement team, and employ and train new staff as procurement specialists.
Negotiate FAK, NAC, Basket Rates and Block Space Agreement mainly for Long Haul Trades with Carriers
Negotiate credit terms with Carriers
Negotiate strategic incentive schemes with Carriers
Monitor the performance of our commitments to our Global Carriers. Align with Regional and Country Ocean Cargo teams within Group to ensure the targets are met.
Procurement of volumes as per set thresholds annually directly with core Carriers.
Contract review and optimization against market conditions.
Work closely together on product development with the Marketing and Product Team to develop with sales teams and Ocean Cargo teams within the Group.
Work closely together with the Group Ocean tender team network on Ocean RFQs.
Provide up-to-date market information and share it within the Group
What It Takes
You will require to have a minimum Degree qualification in Logistics or Business related discipline.
You will have a successful track record in the area of ocean freight procurement and carriers’ negotiation
We will require a minimum of 15 years of relevant working experience with a relevant and strong focus on ocean freight products.
