The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) provides a vibrant and nurturing environment for staff and students to carry out inter-disciplinary research in key areas such as Computational Materials Science, Characterisation Materials Science, Defence Composite Materials, Functional Composite Materials, Energy, Nanomaterials, Low Dimensional Materials, Biomaterials Materials, Biological Materials, Bioinspired Materials and Sustainable Materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead research projects focused on the controllable synthesis of high-entropy materials using liquid metal methods.- Programme and manage research activities, including experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.- Configure and optimize experimental setups for in-situ characterization techniques (e.g., synchrotron radiation, TEM) to understand material synthesis mechanisms.-
- Mentor graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, providing guidance on research techniques, data analysis, and scientific writing.- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on interdisciplinary research projects, leveraging expertise in materials synthesis, characterization, and device fabrication.- Disseminate research findings through high-impact publications, presentations at international conferences, and engagement with the scientific community.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Required Education: Ph.D. in Physics or Materials
Required Experience:
- Extensive experience in the controllable synthesis of materials using liquid metal reaction systems.- Expertise in the characterization of nanomaterials using various techniques, including OM, SEM, TEM, XRD, AFM, and XPS.- Proven ability to conduct in-situ characterization and theoretical simulations.- Experience with synchrotron radiation data analysis and experiment design.- Familiarity with FET device fabrication and characterization.- Strong record of publishing in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.- Experience presenting research findings at international conferences.
