As a Barclays Surveillance Analyst you will join our Global Surveillance function which provides the capabilities to execute Global Markets Surveillance and Transaction Monitoring (TM) Programmes. Reporting into the Head of Market Surveillance (APAC) and will focus on the Surveillance program for APAC in accordance with relevant regulatory and legal requirements, firm policies and industry best practices. Working in close collaboration with colleagues from other control functions including Chief Controls Office (CCO), Legal, Operational Risk and other parts of the Compliance function.

**What will you be doing?**
- Conducting analysis of surveillance alerts for APAC, with primary focus on control room surveillance across different asset classes
- Providing coverage across other types of surveillance, such as e-communications and trade surveillance when required
- Identifying and escalating potential breaches of regulatory rules
- Liaising with surveillance team and other stakeholders for conducting UAT of surveillance models
- Performing periodic reporting on Surveillance issues
- Providing input into or measure, as appropriate, conformance, assurance, and reviews from the perspective of Surveillance, such as verification checks or assurance reviews.
- Identifying improvements needed within the relevant systems and controls across the firm, continuously seeking more efficient and effective performance of the overall framework

**What we’re looking for**:

- Previous Knowledge/Understanding of Market Surveillance and Systems, e.g. SMARTS/Actimize
- Good understanding of Control Room would be a plus
- Knowledge of the Regulatory environment and Risk Management with exposure to Compliance matters;
- Successfully delivered and embedded meaningful change
- Good communication skills, ability to interact and work with key stakeholders

**Skills that will help you in the role**:

- Ability to quickly understand and interchange with a variety of other product and technical areas
- Previous Surveillance or Compliance experience in a financial services environment or Regulator capacity
- Ability to multi-task and manage projects while completing daily tasks and responsibilities
- Familiarity with products across different asset classes, with primary experience in equities and fixed income
