Responsible for the delivery of objectives and strategy of the Group Internal Audit (GIA) function, for fulfilling Divisional audit responsibilities in the Asia region by ensuring adequate internal controls are maintained, and for the provision of independent risk monitoring. Deputies for the Head of Internal Audit when required.- Supports the Head of IA in the development of GIA strategy, plan and capability framework and leads the implementation for the Division-
- Supports and leads the ongoing evaluation of risk management and the governance framework. Drives audit outcomes to ensure that business areas are meeting and delivering the necessary requirements-
- Communicates the Divisional IA strategy to senior stakeholders, which includes the preparation of relevant materials and conducting presentations-
- Identifies and leverages external best practice and opportunities to reduce risk and to improve internal frameworks-
- Manages resources to achieve the approved audit programme.-
- Leadership role in ensuring that relevant policies and procedures set by the Head of IA are fully implemented-
- Builds and maintains strong and effective working relationships with senior key internal and external stakeholders and peers to understand their needs and manage their expectations, and to keep abreast of developments in GIA service delivery-
- Implements a formal stakeholder engagement framework across all countries and stakeholders to ensure openness and transparency between the business and GIA-
- Monitors developments in the Division’s regulatory environment and industry so that changes to stakeholder requirements are anticipated and acted upon-
- Liaises with regional regulators, including responding to ad-hoc requests for information/enquiries and executing regulatory audit requirements.-
- Promotes a customer service-oriented culture within the GIA team that seeks to add value.-
- Up to date with and responds to changes to internal and external environment that impact on customer needs.-
- Works in conjunction with the Head of IA to produce risk-based audit timetable planning and leads the implementation to support the on-going evaluation of risk management-
- Leads the divisional (Asia) GIA team in identifying audit scope and objectives in line with GIA methodology and professional standards.-
- Reviews and supports the delivery of quality audit reports to senior management to ensure that the information is clear, concise and professional-
- Effective delivery of audit engagements and communication of audit issues to senior management which drives resolution.-
- Responsible for coordinating audit issue follow-up activities with business stakeholders timely, including managing requests for extensions and reporting of open and overdue actions.-
- Responsible for the coordination and preparation of Asia Divisional Audit Committee reports.-
- Attendance at Audit Committee meetings to present GIA reports and provide feedback and additional information as required, and liaison with Independent Directors.-
- Manage GIA staff in the Asia team to ensure business needs are met, objectives achieved, and talent retained.- Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of risk management, internal control frameworks, operating activities and computer-based audit tools of similar organisations.
- Minimum of 5 years in an audit management role
- Relevant qualifications in audit, finance, insurance, risk management or equivalent
- Extensive project management experience and interaction with senior stakeholders
- Awareness of and interpretation of relevant new, changed and existing legislation and regulation.
- Communication of complex information - strong report writing skills, planning and organizing
- Team leadership (including career and talent management of people) and team project management
- Ability to coach and influence at a senior level
- Regional travel required to Asia regional audit locations when necessary (approximately 20% of role).
