Job Description
- Reporting directly to the CRO APAC, the role-holder is to support the CRO APAC and Global Head of Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) in the delivery of the AFC risk management and prevention programme to protect the reputation and integrity of abrdn entities in APAC, whilst promoting compliance with AFC policies and procedures.
- To support the CRO APAC in overseeing and coordinating Conduct and Conflict of Interests related matters in APAC.
**Responsibilities**:
Regional
- As regional lead, support the CRO APAC and Head of AFC in co-ordinating and overseeing the AFC effort in APAC, ensuring at all times that business practices meet legal and regulatory requirements and the abrdn Anti-Financial Crime and Anti-Bribery policy;
- Providing guidance and support to the relevant stakeholders in handling escalated AML/CFT and AFC queries, advising on risk-based approach or other AML/CFT and AFC issues etc.;
- To strive for continuous improvement by identifying, designing and implementing changes to AML/ AFC processes, controls and procedures, as required, and ensuring they are documented accordingly;
- Supporting local Money Laundering Reporting Officer (“MLROs”) in APAC in providing AML/CFT and AFC support/advisory on projects and daily work;
- Identifying AFC training requirements in the business and organising and delivering training as and when necessary;
- Supporting the Global Head of AFC in driving a continuous improvement culture within the AFC team, including implementing Group process improvements in APAC to ensure best practice globally;
- Ensuring that the relevant systems, processes and controls are sufficiently robust to prevent abrdn being targeted by fraudulent activities;
- Supporting CRO APAC in overseeing and coordinating (i) Conduct and (ii) Conflict of Interests related matters in APAC, including providing advisory and support to local offices;
- Delivering other relevant tasks as requested by the CRO APAC
Singapore & South Korea: Supporting the Head of Compliance - Singapore for abrdn Asia Limited (“aAL”) and abrdn Korea Limited (“aKL”) for the followings:
- Regulatory updates: Ensure that the business is up to date with regulatory and legislative requirements in respect of AFC, industry wide developments and best practice;
- Policies and procedures: Maintain AFC policies and procedures and risk assessment framework to ensure at all times that they meet legal and regulatory requirements;
- Risk assessment: Completion of AFC risks assessments;
- Training: Identify AFC training requirements in the business and organising and delivering training as and when necessary;
- Investigations: Ensure that suspicious activities are investigated within the required timescales and escalated to management, as appropriate;
- Reporting: Production of AFC-related management information and reporting to relevant boards and committees;
- Third party queries: Handle AFC-related queries from clients, regulators, counterparties, auditors and other professional third parties;
QUALIFICATIONS
- Educated to degree level or equivalent with a further professional qualification to demonstrate expertise in risk management (e.g. CAMS, CA, ACCA, IRM) and experience in conduct, AFC risk management and compliance activities.
KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- At least 10 years’ compliance or AML/ CFT experience in the asset management industry, preferably derived from a global / regional asset manager.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, and enjoy interacting with global stakeholders.
- Strong English language skills required.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, experienced in developing and managing teams.
