**Research Fellow**
**About the Role**:
We are seeking a motivated and talented Research Fellow to join our multidisciplinary team to contribute to an innovative project focused on the development of machine learning algorithms for the analysis of 3D imaging modalities in uveitis patients. This project will develop a ‘Software as a Medical Device’ (SaMD) platform, enhancing clinical decision-making and improving patient outcomes through automated analysis of choroidal, vitreous, and retinal imaging data.
This exciting research initiative integrates advanced imaging techniques, machine learning (ML), and clinical data analysis to improve the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of uveitis and related conditions.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Develop and validate prediction models for disease progression in uveitis using imaging biomarkers and clinical data.
- Contribute to the establishment of a normative database for 3D CVI, VHI, and RVI imaging parameters using a large, multi-ethnic cohort.
- Collaborate with clinicians, data scientists, and engineers to ensure the successful development of a SaMD platform for clinical use.
- Analyze longitudinal data to assess disease activity and treatment response in uveitis patients.
- Prepare high-quality research outputs including reports, publications, and presentations at conferences.
- Ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory guidelines, particularly in maintaining the masked grading of patient data to ensure unbiased results.
**Key Requirements**:
- A PhD in a relevant field such as medical imaging, biomedical engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
- Strong programming skills, particularly in Python, MATLAB, or similar languages commonly used in ML and image processing.
- Demonstrated ability to work with clinical data and imaging datasets, preferably in ophthalmology or related medical fields.
- A track record of published research in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
**Desirable Skills**:
- Familiarity with optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fundus imaging technologies.
- Experience in developing predictive models for disease progression and treatment response.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a passion for advancing medical technology to improve patient outcomes.
- Knowledge of uveitis, autoimmune diseases, or ocular diseases is an added advantage.
