One of SATS businesses is Gateway Services; from airfreight, baggage, and ramp handling, passenger services, aviation security, cargo, warehousing, perishables handling to cruise handling and terminal management, SATS offers a full spectrum of customised gateway services to our clients.
The Data Engineer’s role is to enable the creation of BI solutions that impart insights by telling visual stories to users. This is a hands-on development position mainly using Databricks and Microsoft Azure data engineering skills.
The data engineer, within the Data and Analytics unit, will work with Data Analysts, Data Scientists and Business users to 1) define the requirements of data needed for analytics projects, 2) establish data ingestions & pipelines to enable insights and 3) creation of Data Models to enable self-service analytics.
**Responsibilities**:
- Create and maintain multiple robust and high-performance data processing pipeline within Azure Cloud and Databricks data ecosystem for Gateway analytics projects.
- Assemble large, complex data sets from a wide variety of data sources.
- Collaborate with Data Analyst, Data Scientist and Business users to derive actionable insights and reliable foresights into operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
- Develop, deploy and maintain multiple microservices, rest API and reporting services.
- Design, develop and implement datasets and model.
- Design and implement internal processes to automate manual workflow, optimize data delivery and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc
- Establish expertise in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
**Key Requirements**
- Degree holder in Information Systems, Business / Data Analytics, Information Technology or Computer Science with at least **3** years of experience** in data engineering.
- Experience building and operating large scale data lake or data warehouse. **Azure Cloud or** **Databricks proficiency will be an advantage.**:
- Experience with stream-processing systems including Spark-Streaming
- Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, Scala, etc
- A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.
- In-depth understanding of and experience in designing **structured and unstructured, SQL and NoSQL repositories **and able to optimize data queries.
- Highly motivated, structured, and methodical with high degree of initiative
- Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical abilities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Able to work independently or cross functionally.
