Senior Early Intervention Educator

As a Senior EARLY INTERVENTION SPECIALIST, you will lead and support developing and implementing effective early intervention strategies within an inclusive preschool setting. In addition to directly working with children, you will take on a leadership role in curriculum development, mentor other educators, and contribute to the team's professional growth. Your work will align with the latest Early Childhood Skills Framework and promote highly inclusive education and care standards.
**Job Responsibilities
**Planning and Delivering Interventions**
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of children’s developmental, learning, and behavioral needs using standardized tools and professional expertise.
- Develop, implement and oversee Individualised Education Plans (IEPs), ensuring they are holistic, inclusive, and aligned with the Nurturing Early Learners (NEL) Framework.
- Integrate advanced intervention strategies within the preschool curriculum to support group learning and individual development.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and recommend improvements based on best practices and research.
- Utilize evidence-based practices and instructional strategies to promote learning, social-emotional development, and communication skills.
**Supporting Inclusive Practices**
- Champion inclusive education by guiding and collaborating with classroom teachers to adapt and differentiate lesson plans, materials, and activities for diverse learners.
- Provide strategic support in facilitating inclusive group dynamics and fostering positive peer relationships among children.
- Lead efforts to cultivate a school-wide culture of acceptance, inclusion, and equity.
**Curriculum Development**
- Design and refine curriculum components to include intervention strategies that support diverse learning needs and align with the preschool’s inclusive education goals.
- Collaborate with curriculum planners and the Centre Principal to ensure that the curriculum reflects the latest developments in early intervention and inclusive education.
- Develop teaching aids, resources, and activities to support differentiated learning within the classroom setting.
- Conduct ongoing assessments to evaluate children's progress and identify areas of need.
**Classroom Management**:
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters a sense of belonging and supports each child's social-emotional development.
- Establish clear behavior expectations and implement behavior management strategies that promote positive behaviors and self-regulation.
- Promote independence and self-help skills through structured routines and activities.
- Ensure a safe and engaging learning environment by maintaining appropriate classroom materials, equipment, and resources.
**Training and Mentorship**
- Mentor and train Early Intervention Educators and Early Childhood Educators in implementing inclusive practices, intervention strategies, and classroom management techniques.
- Conduct workshops, training sessions, and peer coaching to enhance the professional skills of educators.
- Provide guidance and constructive feedback to educators on their interaction and intervention approaches with children who have additional needs.
- Lead by example in demonstrating best practices in early intervention and inclusive education.
**Building Partnerships with Families**
- Establish strong, collaborative relationships with families by providing regular updates on children’s progress and sharing resources to support their development.
- Empower families with strategies to continue intervention efforts at home and guide them in navigating available community resources.
- Address parental concerns with sensitivity, professionalism, and a solutions-focused approach.
**Collaboration with Professionals**
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists, psychologists, and other specialists, to develop and implement effective intervention plans.
- Participate in and lead case conferences to discuss progress, challenges, and collaborative strategies for children under care.
- Advocate for the needs of children requiring early intervention within the preschool and the larger community.
**Documentation and Compliance**
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of intervention plans, progress reports, and observations, ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Oversee the documentation practices of other educators to ensure alignment with the policies of ECDA and other authorities.
- Contribute to audits, reviews, and reporting processes to uphold the quality of early intervention and inclusive education services.
- Prepare progress reports and participate in the evaluation and reporting process as required by regulatory agencies and funding sources.
