DESIGNATION : Designer (Senior Assistant Director)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design is central to Gardens by the Bay. Every year, millions of visitors are drawn to discover wonder at the Gardens thanks to thoughtfully designed immersive experiences, from iconic Supertrees and enchanting events to the attractions, landscapes and amenities that are constantly developed or improved. As an established professional, you will combine rigorous analysis with creative thinking to address various design challenges and opportunities, while preserving the Gardens' unique identity. You will work closely with stakeholders on high visibility architectural, landscape or interior projects and signature floral displays, among other design assignments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- **Architectural / landscape / interior design**: You will study senior management's requirements, analyse constraints and opportunities, propose strategies and solutions, and present these visually and verbally. You will periodically conduct space optimisation or feasibility studies. When projects are approved, you will prepare project briefs, site plans, drawings and specifications for the procurement of contractors. You may occasionally need to develop designs to a detailed level, procure contractors by yourself and project manage development works.
- **Changing floral displays**: As a key member of a multi-disciplinary team of horticultural, design, education and communications professionals, you will research, conceptualise and design changing floral displays like Sakura and Tulipmania. You will create conceptual images, perspective and technical drawings, and specifications for prop procurement. You will work closely with stakeholders, colleagues and vendors to implement displays to high standards, and within approved budgets and timelines.
- **Other assignments**: From time to time, you may be asked to help design signages, graphics, non-floral events, retail displays, and industrial design. You will study requirements, develop and present options, and create drawings for implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Architecture; other relevant design degrees will be considered.
- Minimum 5 years relevant postgraduate design experience.
- Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Sketchup/3D, and relevant artificial intelligence tools (e.g. Midjourney).
- Bonus: familiarity with horticulture and the use of plant materials in design.
- Collaborative and able to build good relationship with peers and stakeholders.
- Excellent visual communication and verbal presentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.
