Research Assistant in the Laboratory of Dr. Yasunori Saheki
We are currently recruiting a research assistant who will join the laboratory of Cell Biology and Molecular Neuroscience at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine), a joint medical school between Imperial College London, U.K. and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU).
Our lab in the Clinical Sciences Building, located in the heart of Singapore, focuses on the mechanisms that underlie the progression of neurological disorders and studies how cellular lipid homeostasis impacts on this process. To address this challenge, we are characterizing a novel cellular mechanism for lipid delivery that does not rely on membrane fusion. We use the combination of mammalian cell biology and

The lab will foster reciprocal interactions between the members of the lab and the members of the NTU life science clusters including, but not limited to, LKCMedicine and School of Biological Sciences. We will provide exciting opportunities and vibrant atmospheres as well as state-of-arts core facilities. Excited and motivated individuals are all encouraged to apply.
**Responsibilities**:
- Perform experiments, document results, and analyze data and carry out an independent research project.
- Assist purchasing of equipment, materials and consumables and provide general supports for the lab.
- Keep a log of lab materials as necessary (e.g. cell lines, _C. elegans_ strains, plasmid DNAs, proteins and other essential reagents).
- Attend a weekly lab meeting and bi-weekly journal club and present data and/or papers as necessary.
Skills and qualifications:
- Applicants should have at least 1 year of previous research experience or laboratory training, including experience in a final year project.
- Prior knowledge in protein purification and cell biology is preferred. Experimental skills in molecular biology, biochemistry or light microscopy will be adding an advantage.
- Be able to work independently and collaborate effectively in a highly diverse and interdisciplinary team.
- Self-motivated and well-organized with good communication and technical skills.
