**JOB SUMMARY**
- The Director Environmental, Social, Governance and Reputational (“ESGR”) and Net Zero (“NZ”) Client Risk Management role is to help manage ESGR (including Climate) risks with a focus on outbound, environmental and social non-financial risks. The role will operate in accordance with the Enterprise Risk Management framework and embed the policy framework of CIB Climate Credit Risk Standard and Non-financial ESG and Reputational risk management standard in fulfilling the requirements of second line oversight and challenge to key stakeholders across the Group for ESGR risks. The role will have a focus on specific Non-financial ESG and Reputational risk issues to ensure alignment with the Bank’s referenced environmental and social standards and in line with Bank’s risk appetite.
- The Director ESGR & NZ Client Risk Management, CIB will be responsible for the following:

- Leading on review and challenge of Reputational Risk and E&S matters and to ensure financial services (including advisory services) are carried out in compliance with the Bank’s referenced environmental and social standards (including the Equator Principles) and this is captured accurately as part of the bank’s ESGR risk assessments. This will require but is not limited to:
- Review and Challenge of Financial and Non-Financial ESGR assessments forms completed by the frontline (including RRMA, ESRAs and CRAs).
- undertaking ESG&R due diligence where relevant on transactions where referred
- Oversight and Challenge on first line activities
- identifying mitigations to gain comfort on risks, with a focus on outbound E&S and Reputational risks.
- preparing and reviewing committee papers
- summarising key risks and trends as part of Case MI/Reporting
- Driving the development, promotion and implementation of the Group’s sectoral Position Statements
- Actively liaising with front-line teams across the Group but specifically Client Coverage, Sustainable Finance, DCM, Corporate Finance and Trade Finance to manage existing and emerging E&S risks
- Using their depth of expertise in several sectors and geographies to drive the E&S client strategy for the Group.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Strategy**
- Driving robust risk management and oversight activities on ESGR related risk types for both client wholistic reviews as part of BCAs, as well as on an ad-hoc transaction basis when required. A keen understanding of the ESG Navigator tools and the future pathway to wholistic ESGR assessments for best risk management practice.
- Focus on execution while being accountable and innovative in finding ways to be part of the solution even when identifying problems.
- Support continuous training initiatives for both the 1st line and 2nd line to ensure ESGR risk embedding into BAU credit risk management, working closely with Group COO and Credit Policy teams.

**Business**
- While being focussed on the ESGR financial and non-financial risks for CIB Clients, keep a risk aware client focussed hat with regards to the level of risk and consider how the risk assessments contribute to helping the clients build a more resilient business model while being aligned with the Groups NZ committments.
- Broad awareness and understanding of the bank’s business model and risk profile.
- Embed enhanced due diligence criteria across various ESG and Sustainability Risk criteria into first-line processes and ensure first-line are kept up-to-date with evolving risk and regulatory landscape.
- Support development of portfolio management strategies and approaches for ESG and Reputational risks specifically with regards to embedding into within Credit Underwriting Principles, Risk Appetite and portfolio reviews across key sectors.
- Communicate confidently with senior stakeholders, taking a lead in working groups and other committee meetings such as the Climate Risk Management Committee, Group Responsibility and Reputational Risk Committee.

**Processes**
- Work within the existing CIB ESGR Financial and Non-Financial risk processes as well as understanding of the existing ESG Navigator systems, workflows and underlying processes. Support the design, implementation and education of staff on policies and procedures in collaboration with Risk, Legal and relevant business teams; Represent ESRM on Committees and Forums as required.
- Evaluate relevant existing controls and contribute to designing new controls as required.
- Contribute to Group-wide RCSA reviews with respect to ESGR risk, particularly for CIB credit risk.
- Evaluate relevant existing controls and contribute to designing new controls as required in line with the CIB climate risk standard.

- Develop and guide junior and new members including Hub resources in the team as they gain experience over time.
