**What the role is**
- You will be part of a team that oversees Singapore’s competition and consumer protection policies in the Ministry, which aims to foster a fair and open environment in Singapore for businesses and consumers.
With new disruptive business models and changing consumer preferences, there is a need to review and keep our competition and consumer protection policies updated. This is an evolving field globally, with authorities around the world studying the impact of digital technology and exploring measures to ensure a good balance between business competitiveness and consumer welfare.
**What you will be working on**
- Your work would include working closely with the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) and the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) on the following:
a. Enhancing our consumer protection framework, especially to protect vulnerable consumers.
b. Enhancing our competition policy framework to foster an efficient and level playing field for businesses in Singapore and strengthening Singapore’s microeconomic competitiveness.
c. Analysing and dealing with novel competition and consumer protection issues.
d. Working with other MTI divisions, economic and regulatory agencies to provide the competition and consumer protection perspective at inter-agency platforms.
e. Assessing and representing Singapore’s competition and consumer protection interests at regional and international platforms.
**What we are looking for**
- Strong analytical, writing and communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to manage different stakeholders
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Experience in policy formulation and implementation would be an advantage
