Minimum qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Technology, Science, Law, Policy, Economics, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in electric utilities, regulators, clean energy advocates, policymakers, or other stakeholders.
- Ability to speak and write in Japanese fluently in order to effectively communicate with representatives from external stakeholders in-market, who will be from Japan.

Preferred qualifications:

- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience transacting in the Japanese Energy Market.
- Experience creating innovative but replicable solutions and scaling programs.

**About the job**:
As a Strategic Negotiator, you will lead multi-disciplinary projects to deliver new sources of carbon-free energy at scale. This includes evaluating existing processes and structures, identifying new solutions and structures to address barriers, managing risks and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders.

In this role, you will help lead efforts in creating, deploying, and scaling new energy initiatives. You will source and lead new methods and structures to achieve carbon reduction goals across our global energy supply portfolio, interfacing with various external stakeholders. You will act as our commercial lead when interfacing with external parties and work cross-functionally internally to coordinate our commercial and operations teams in order to successfully execute on projects.

**Responsibilities**:

- Negotiate and manage data center energy supply, and advise on the energy market for new data center location strategy.
- Identify new financial and commercial structures for meeting Google’s carbon-free energy and Net Zero goals across different regions and technologies, including markets where direct procurement of carbon-free energy by end users is not currently possible.
- Evaluate opportunities (e.g., financial analysis, feasibility, impact on Google’s climate goals) and lead selection and prioritization process.
- Improve current or present new approaches, creating solutions to solve business problems and ensure objectives are achieved.
- Develop and maintain a collaborative relationships with external and internal partner teams.
