**Minimum qualifications**:

- JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.- Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.
- 7 years of attorney-level experience working in customs and international trade law in private practice or in a multinational in-house team in the Asia Pacific region.
- Experience with free trade agreements, preferential trade programs and other duty mitigation schemes.

**Preferred qualifications**:

- Compliance experience working in a high-tech environment.
- Understanding of customs and export regulations and procedures in key Asia Pacific markets
- Ability to work separately and highly team-oriented, with a flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of matters and issues.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and people management skills.

The Global Trade Legal team enables and supports Google’s objectives while ensuring compliance with trade regulations administered by relevant customs, sanctions, and export control bodies globally.

The Import Legal team is responsible for Google's and Alphabet's compliance to import regulations, encompassing the classification of goods, customs valuation procedures, and determination of country of origin. The Export Legal team is responsible for managing Google's and Alphabet's compliance with export controls, sanctions, and anti-boycott requirements.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide legal advice on Asia Pacific customs laws, regulations, and procedures, ensuring trade compliance through import/export policies.
- Support the business with customs classification, valuation, origin determination, and other import/export compliance matters.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., supply chain, logistics, sales) to ensure compliance and identify/mitigate potential supply chain risks.
- Manage internal and external customs audits/investigations and represent the company before customs authorities, while also determining regulatory requirements for APAC imports/exports.
- Stay up-to-date on regulatory developments, participate in industry groups, and help shape Google's trade compliance approach.
