Guided by the Classroom Teacher, the Teaching Assistant (TA) will create materials, assist in the organisation and administration of the classroom and deliver instruction to their allocated students in support of their learning.
**Main Responsibilities**
- To support student learning in the classroom under the direction of the teacher.
- Communicate effectively with students and ensure that their learning is prioritised and supported fully and appropriately
- Engage in all aspects of student learning and curriculum, including programme delivery.
- Monitor and record student progress, wellbeing and behaviour and communicate concerns and successes to the Classroom Teacher in order to ensure students are working towards their goals
- Support students during break times as well as arrival and departure in the bus bay as required
- Maintain confidentiality at all times in respect of individual/family circumstances
- Assist with any other duties, tasks or jobs with similar levels of responsibility and complexity to the assigned job grade as may be reasonably requested by the line manager and/or the College
**Person Specifications**
- Certificate/diploma in related discipline is preferred.
- 2 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity is preferred.
- Have a caring and supportive approach to chil dren ag ed 4-11
- Be an excellent role model and be a team player
- Be adaptable and open to change
- Be able to work both under the direction of the teacher, and on their own initiative
- Be appreciative of, and sensitive towards, chil dren’s differing backgrounds
- Be willing to learn and undertake professional development training
- Be professional in all interactions within the school setting
- Abide by the school’s policies and practices, including the code of conduct and confidentiality
- Be available once a year to participate in a residential camp that will require the teaching assistant to stay overnight. In the younger grades this is for one night, in older grade levels it can be for up to four nights a week for three weeks in a row.
- Physical demands of the role include walking chil dren to different locations on our large campus (this can be up to 10 times a day); working with chil dren on the floor (sitting next to them playing games etc); climbing up staircases supervising groups of chil dren; actively supervising playground activities e.g. climbing frames, monkey bars; assisting in PE lessons (eg taking a ball skills group); physically helping chi ldren get dressed and undressed; sitting at small tables working with groups of chi ldren.
