About the Role:
We are recruiting for a Senior Claims Specialist to be based in our Singapore Insurance office specialising in third party lines to join our Claims Team.
Reporting to the Head of Claims, Asia, you will handle, investigate, evaluate and resolve complex Liability claims. Experience in Financial Lines claims would also be beneficial. This role will need to oversee management of key partnerships with Third Party Administrators and work closely with the leadership team to optimize claims solutions to support Everest’s growth proposition and speed to market.
You will also be expected to contribute across the organisation by providing input and advice to underwriters and actuaries by identifying and monitoring trends and issues and providing insightful and actionable feedback to underwriters, local management, and the Head of Claims. You will actively participate in broker and customer relationship management to support the retention and acquisition of business and promoting the Everest brand and capabilities within the Asia region.
Key Accountabilities:
- Reviewing and analysing complex coverage issues and preparation of coverage letters
- Investigating, analysing and evaluating liability, damages and cost exposures
- Managing and directing outside experts including adjusters and lawyers
- Preparing case summary reports related to matters of significant reserve and litigation activity
- Setting timely and appropriate case reserves
- Preparation of Large Claims Reports in respect of significant reserve and litigation activity
- Developing and executing claim strategies as well as resolution strategies
- Negotiating and resolving cases
- Managing and overseeing Third party administrators (TPAs)
- Working with underwriters to support policy construction and drafting, reporting claim trends, data analysis, and risk assessments
- Participate in claim reviews, stewardship meetings and claim audits
- Extensive communication and collaboration with insureds, brokers, reinsurers, actuaries, and underwriters
- Attending client meetings and industry functions to support retention and development of client relationships and business
- Participate in calls or work outside of standard hours when necessary to support cross-regional operations.
- Perform any other duties as required to support the business objectives.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Qualified lawyer or degree educated professional.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in complex third-party insurance claims or similar legal experience.
- Experience with a global insurance company working across multiple underwriting platforms, jurisdictions and markets.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims process and legal and regulatory environment.
- Highly developed analytical skills
- Exceptional oral and written communication, with the ability to provide concise executive summaries to senior management.
- Highly collaborative and able to work effectively across the organisation as well as with external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills.
- Ability to think strategically.
- Ability to influence others and resolve complex, disputed claims.
- In-depth knowledge of the litigation, arbitration, and trial process.
- Ability to identify and use relevant data and metrics to best manage claims.
- Collaborative mind-set and willingness to work with people outside immediate reporting hierarchy to improve processes and generate optimal departmental efficiency.
