Language Manager, Global Language Strategy

Google will be prioritizing applicants who have a current right to work in Singapore, and do not require Google's sponsorship of a visa.

Minimum qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to speak and write in English and Vietnamese fluently in order to educate and advocate for Google's products when presenting to Vietnamese-speaking clients and agencies.

Preferred qualifications:

- 5 years of experience as a Vietnamese-English translator, linguist, copywriter, writer or editor.
- Experience with video, creative, localization, video localization, journalism, public communications, or the online marketing/advertising industry.
- Experience working across cross-functional teams and time-zones in project/program management and partner/stakeholder management.
- Experience using data to identify trends, inform business-critical decisions, and tell a story from the data.
- Ability to manage multiple and diverse stakeholders across businesses and leadership levels.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with strategic thinking, data-driven, data interpretation skills.

As a Language Manager, you'll develop an understanding of market expectations for localization quality and Google's products fit in the market. You will also work closely with local teams to develop specific terminology for features and products, and shape Google for the local market.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support and guide Google's translation and review vendors to deliver quality translations that align with Google’s language standards. Assess vendor metrics to identify issues/trends, and use metrics to drive improvements with local vendors.
- Form a key part of the Google in-country go-to-market team with Marketing, Product, and Public Relations to manage localization of Google products.
- Work with Localization Project Managers and other teams to identify and address linguistic issues. Maintain language references such as terminology databases and the style guide.
- Understand issues in the localization process and guide language quality improvement initiatives at the language and team level.
- Develop an understanding of market and user expectations for Vietnamese language quality and to use language to achieve market and user needs. Seek language studies and user insights to improve this understanding.
