
Energy Marketing Sales Trader

**This is a 6-month full-time contract, starting mid-November 2025 and ending mid-May 2026.**
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Collaborate with Hartree global team to design and deliver tailored risk management strategies for clients in the oil, gas, carbon, and freight markets.
- Leverage in-depth market knowledge to analyze client exposures and develop bespoke solutions that optimize decision-making and mitigate risk.
- Provide actionable market intelligence and insights to clients, enabling them to navigate volatile and evolving energy markets effectively.
- Drive liquidity and competitive pricing by utilizing Hartree’s global platform and diverse product portfolio.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, fostering trust and long-term partnerships with corporations, financial institutions, governments, and other stakeholders.
- Originate and execute structured commodity transactions, including hedging instruments and derivative products, to meet client-specific risk and return objectives.
- Actively manage a portfolio of client trades, monitoring market positions and adjusting strategies to optimize profitability and risk exposure.
- Develop and pitch innovative commodity-linked financing solutions, leveraging Hartree’s balance sheet to support client liquidity needs.
- Engage in cross-asset sales and trading activities, coordinating with internal desks to provide integrated solutions across physical and financial energy markets.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, regulatory changes, and geopolitical developments to anticipate market opportunities and risks.
- Contribute to Hartree Partners’ commitment to sustainable energy solutions, including ventures in carbon markets and renewable energy initiatives.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including trading, operations, and risk management, to ensure seamless execution of strategies.
- Actively participate in thought leadership, representing Hartree Partners in industry discussions and client engagements to promote innovative energy solutions.
**Experience**:
- At least 4 years’ working experience in both derivatives sales and trading in energy industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in delivering customized market exposure solutions to a diverse client base, including clienteles in Asia and EMEA.
- Proven ability to combine physical and financial industry experience with deep market knowledge to create client-focused strategies.
- Experience working within a global platform, contributing to liquidity and competitive pricing across multiple commodity markets.
**Skills and Competencies**:
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a track record of fostering trust and collaboration with clients and internal teams.
- Deep understanding of global energy markets, including oil, gas, carbon, and freight, with the ability to provide actionable insights to clients.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities in evolving energy landscapes. Able to work as a one-person team across business needs such as client engagement/pricing/trade execution and hedging/post trade settlement and MTM service.
**Education**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Energy Studies, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in energy markets or risk management are a plus.
