The Operations team partners closely with ResMed’s five business leaders to understand their needs then providing a variety of products and services to help them meet those needs including Customer and Technical Services, Global Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, manufacturing, logistics and distribution. Focused on enabling new product introduction and operating excellence, our team strives to improve time to market for new products and services, improve efficiencies in our cross-functional processes, and improve our supply chain through digitization and automation to increase value add to our customers.

The senior manufacturing engineer will provide technical and project management skills to ensure that new products are introduced into our highly automated and high volume Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) factory in a safely, timely, efficient, good quality and cost effective manner. The role will be responsible for front-end engineering and completion of New Product Introduction (NPI) using the company standard processes and procedures, highlighting DFM and production capability issues as appropriate.

Let’s talk about Responsibilities- Design, develop, procure & commission tooling, equipment and production systems to facilitate the introduction of new products into manufacturing- Promote a safe working environment by following OH&S guidelines as well as implementing & closing out actions for the continual improvement of work place safety.- Conduct Process FMEA's and appropriate Risk Assessments to ensure and demonstrate full compliance to product specification and requirements- Represent LSR manufacturing engineering on new design project XFT, actively provide constructive technical feedback and recommendations to ensure robust, manufacturable product.- Engage external supplier as appropriate. Understand project risk, develop contingencies, track milestones and deliver project outcomes on time.- Introduce & maintain production procedures.- Provide training on new equipment, processes & procedures as required.- Complete process validation activities & documentation.- Identify & implement GMP, Six-Sigma LEAN improvement actions.- Assess and implement new processes, equipment and technologies for longer-term manufacturing requirements.- Develop, motivate and mentor other manufacturing engineers.- Significantly improve, change or adapt existing engineering methods and processes in line with business/project requirements- Demonstrates willingness to take initiative, solve problems and make decisions as if the leader was there- Demonstrates ownership of challenges or issues and takes appropriate action- Introduce new technology and lean processes (automation & digitization) to enhance operations efficiency, reduced floor space, and improve manufacturing scalability that aligns to Industry 4.0 technologies.

Position Specific Skills and Challenges- The role requires an ability to give design for manufacturing feedback to product development team at all stages of product development- Must have result oriented approach to all the work with a continuous improvement mindset.- Must be an excellent communicator and a strong team player.- Needs to be able to communicate and collaborate with staff at all levels within their function and with other departments across global engineering team.- Must have strong process engineering skills and knowledge with the ability to problem solve and implement innovative solutions.- Must have visibility and credibility within their function.- Must have excellent business acumen.- Needs to be tech savvy, so they can interact with development teams at a technical level.- Must have a strong understanding of Manufacturing Process Development, Risk Management and Validation and be able to represent this to quality and regulatory auditors.- Must have a strong understanding of what makes an efficient, safe, robust and high quality medical device manufacturing process.

Let’s talk about Qualifications and Experience- Degree in engineering or related discipline- Demonstrated experience in highly automated and high manufacturing process preferably in injection moulding environment- Extensive experience in NPI and new technology introduction- Excellent troubleshooting skills- Sound electrical, mechanical and pneumatic design knowledge of Robotic systems and automated machinery.- Self-motivated, Proven team player with ability to technically lead and teach.- Excellent organizational and technical communication skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects to meet changing demand.- Keep up to date with new manufacturing technologies and industry 4.0 evolution through seminars, magazine, trade shows etc
