GP Tutor (General Paper) - Part-Time Freelance (Online)

We are seeking highly motivated and experienced freelance General Paper (GP) Tutors to join our online tuition team. As a GP Tutor, you will play a crucial role in empowering students to achieve academic excellence, specifically aiming for A grades in their GCE A-Level General Paper examinations. This is a part-time, freelance position offering flexible hours and the opportunity to make a significant impact on students' learning journeys.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Deliver High-Quality Online Tuition**: Conduct engaging and effective online GP lessons for Junior College (JC) students in Singapore, in small groups.
- **Syllabus Mastery**: Possess in-depth knowledge of the Singapore GCE A-Level H1 General Paper syllabus, including Paper 1 (Essay) and Paper 2 (Comprehension & Application Question).
- **Content and Skills Development**: Guide students in developing critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills essential for GP, focusing on:

- **Essay Writing**: Structuring compelling arguments, developing nuanced perspectives, using relevant examples from a wide range of global, regional, and local issues, and refining language proficiency.
- **Application Question (AQ)**: Guiding students to connect their understanding of the passage to real-world issues and formulate well-supported arguments.
- **Personalized Learning**: Assess students' individual strengths and weaknesses, and tailor lesson plans and teaching strategies to address their specific learning needs and goals.
- **Provide Constructive Feedback**: Offer detailed and actionable feedback on student assignments (essays, comprehension practices, AQs) to identify areas for improvement and track progress.
- **Develop Study Materials**: Create or utilize high-quality, updated notes, model essays, and practice questions to supplement student learning.
- **Exam Preparation**: Equip students with effective examination strategies, time management techniques, and revision plans to optimize their performance in the A-Level exams.
- **Stay Current**: Keep abreast of current affairs, global issues, and educational trends relevant to the GP syllabus to provide timely and relevant examples and discussions.
- **Motivate and Inspire**: Foster a positive and supportive learning environment, encouraging students to develop a genuine interest in current affairs and critical discourse.
- **Communication**: Maintain clear and consistent communication with students and, if applicable, their parents, regarding progress and areas for focus.

**Requirements**:

- **Academic Excellence**: Achieved a strong grade (preferably an 'A') in GCE A-Level General Paper or equivalent.
- **Strong Subject Knowledge**: Excellent command of the English language and a broad general knowledge across various disciplines (social, political, economic, scientific, technological, ethical, etc.).
- **Pedagogical Skills**: Ability to explain complex concepts clearly, simplify challenging topics, and engage students effectively in an online setting.
- **Critical Thinking & Analytical Skills**: Possess strong critical thinking and analytical abilities, and be able to impart these skills to students.
- **Communication Skills**: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to deliver engaging lessons and provide clear feedback.
- **Reliability & Professionalism**: Punctual, responsible, and committed to student success.
- **Technical Proficiency**: Comfortable using online conferencing tools, virtual whiteboards, and other digital resources for effective online teaching. Stable internet connection and a conducive home setup for online tutoring are essential.
- **Freelance Mindset**: Ability to manage own schedule, work independently, and adapt to varying student needs and demands.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Undergraduate or Graduate degree from a reputable university.
- Current or former MOE teacher or a tutor with extensive experience in leading tuition centres.

**Remuneration**:

- Competitive freelance rates, commensurate with experience and qualifications. (Typically ranging from S$50 - S$150 per hour for JC/A-Level GP, depending on experience and qualifications).
