As a **L**ead **S**cientist** in Lonza Singapore’s Development Services department, you will be able to develop and enhance your technical and scientific capabilities as well as build on your technical leadership skills. You will be involved in hands-on experimental activities as well as leading projects right from planning to delivery. You will be the project representative, responsible for the progress of the project(s) involving co-ordination within the team as well as the cross functional team members and be the face of Lonza representing the downstream process team to interact with customers stationed across the globe.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Leads multiple projects in area of expertise of increasing scale and complexity, including oversight of junior scientists within project team(s).
- Dept/site SME in 1 or more areas aligned with training plan.
- Work as an integral part of a site and global project team maintaining a strong network of contacts both on site and globally.
- Be the project representative, leading internal and external project meetings.
- Deliver high quality communication (written documents, telecons and face to face) to ensure an outstanding customer experience.
- Perform the following activities with high levels of precision and accuracy: Routine downstream activities (process development, material supply, process evaluation and process characterization) that include Chromatography (Affinity, Mixed-mode, Ion-exchange etc.) using the AKTA purification system, Ultrafiltration/Diafiltration, Viral reduction and analytical methods aligned with individuals training.
- Lead junior scientists in the team for Process Development/Process Characterization activities including experiment designing, planning, supervising and directing studies.
- Efficiently plans own time and prioritizes lab work for self and project teams with mínimal input from supervisor to deliver project goals.
- Sound knowledge of DoE methodologies, data analysis and interpretation to define process parameter ranges and process steps. The use of statistical software will be required for Process Development/ Process Characterization studies.
- Document results in accordance with Lonza policies and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) - as appropriate
- Draft and review high quality technical documents including but not limited to Protocols, Reports, SOPs etc.
- Co-ordinate with departments on site and globally to demonstrate track record of timely delivery of projects with increasing complexity.
- General lab support including housekeeping, equipment maintenance, inventory of supplies, etc. while actively contributing to operational efficiency initiatives.
- Troubleshoot equipment and scientific issues.
- Train new scientists, juniors and peers with existing or new technologies as required.
- Any other duties as assigned by Management

**Key Requirements**:

- Degree with 8+ years or PhD in Biological Science / Engineering (as appropriate for area of expertise) with 4+ years of experience.
- A detailed understanding of the scientific rationale behind the development of biopharmaceuticals.
- Expertise with relevant years of experience in Protein purification involved in the development of biopharmaceuticals.
- Experience in Process Characterization/Process Validation for BLA studies, involving the use of statistical software for experimental design and data analysis.
- Understanding of cGMP regulations will be advantageous.
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with being an efficient team player.
