**YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Job Summary**:
This is your opportunity to join one of Germany’s most impactful companies in the DAX-40 and be an integral member of the APAC Leadership Team BRENNTAG, the world’s largest chemical distributor with a market cap of EUR 11 billion is hiring a bilingual HEAD OF LEGAL (15-PQE) to lead the legal function in the Asia-Pacific & China region. - To provide legal and strategic advisory to Regional Presidents, Board of Directors (JVs and subsidiaries) and Head of Functions in Asia-Pacific (including Greater China).
- To mentor and supervise a team of generalist legal counsel & corporate secretary located across SEA and South Asia, ensuring seamless legal operations and compliance.
- To draft, manage and negotiate complex commercial agreements and act as point-of-escalation for regional counsel, ensuring all contracts meet the company’s requirements, regulatory regime and mitigate potential risks.
- To lead and manage the legal aspects of all M&A transactions and joint ventures, from due diligence through to deal closing and integration.
- To provide strategic legal advice to senior management on a variety of legal and business issues, including corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.
- To develop and implement legal strategies and processes to support the company's business objectives and transformation plans.
- To act as a key advisor to the Group General Counsel, assisting with the development and execution of the company’s global legal & corporate strategy.
- To monitor for changes and developments in laws and regulations and proactively assist in the development of forward-thinking strategies to effectively navigate those changes.
- To manage litigation/ investigations and to liaise with external lawyers, managing costs of external lawyers in relation to matters in litigation, coordinating information from Company to external lawyers.

**YOUR PROFILE**:
**Education**: Bachelor of Laws Degree (minimum) from a top-tier university (Common Law).

**Qualifications**: Holder of a valid Attorney/ Legal Practitioner License in a Common Law jurisdiction.

**Language**: Excellent command of English and Mandarin (spoken and written).

**Experience**:

- 15-PQE (min) as an admitted Attorney/ Legal Practitioner, with solid training in both private practice (min 5 years) and MNC in-house experience. Practical experience in various jurisdictions is preferred (international background to cover the challenges of the whole region)

**Essential Knowledge**:

- M&A process and transactional agreements (verified drafting skills)
- Regulatory/Antitrust and Competition Law
- Contracts Law (verified drafting skills)
- Corporate Governance
- General Corporate and Commercial Law

- This role requires a strategic thinker with negotiation, leadership, and management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects under tight timeline and handle highly confidential information;
- You must be a confident speaker and not afraid to voice opinion/ interfere when necessary (yet observing cultural norms and show respect to senior members of the Company; JV Partners).
- You must have the ability to work independently without daily supervision and be a well-articulated person with enthusiasm for the legal profession and BT values.
- You are someone who is diligent, meticulous, and analytical, with ability to exercise judgement to identify and escalate issues;
- You must have superior communication skills required with the ability to clearly and diplomatically articulate issues, solutions and rationale.
- You are someone who value in-person meetings and are sociable.
- You must have integrity and remain independent at all times.

**Travel Requirements**:

- You are able and comfortable to travel on short notice, on a frequent basis (seasonal).
